Job Description

Federal Ammunition is seeking a Process Engineer to lead the development, validation, and introduction of new ammunition products and manufacturing processes. Partner closely with Product Development, Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure successful commercialization and production readiness of innovative products.

This position reports to the Product Development Manager and is based out of our Anoka, Minnesota office.

As the Process Engineer, you will have the opportunity to: 

  • Manage all aspects of new rifle product development programs. This includes product design, testing, documentation, quality specifications, budgets, timelines, and raw material qualifications.

  • Communicate and work with engineering technicians, assigning workload, and conveying new product requirements and goals.

  • Work cross-functionally with Operations and support staff to execute new product introductions into manufacturing. This includes assessing equipment capability, establishing bill of materials, identifying opportunities for process improvement and recommending methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste.

  • Regularly interact with and provide technical guidance to manufacturing and shop personnel.

  • Problem solve and complete Failure Analysis' to resolve design, production and manufacturing issues.

  • Support Marketing team with technical data review, asset creation, and attendance at trade and consumer shows as a subject matter expert.

  • Initiate and lead engineering projects including cost improvements and capital projects.

  • Initiate and maintain relationships with vendors and outside technical resources as needed, to be successful in developing new processes and products.

  • Thorough understanding and broad application of technical standards, principles, theories and techniques relating to small arms ammunition and other related disciplines is desired but not essential.

You have: 

  • B.S. in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics

  • 1-3+ years of related experience or equivalent technical training or experience.

  • Knowledge of advanced materials and processes.

  • Hands-on problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.

  • Experience with Minitab or similar software. 

 

You might also have: 

  • Experience in metal forming and/or high volume manufacturing.

  • Experience with cold heading

  • Background in ammunition development, ballistics, firearms, and related processes.

  • Experience related to military service, hunting, competitive shooting, and reloading.

  • CAD/CAM experience desired.

Pay Range:

$67,100.00 - $93,900.00

The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
