The Corbion facility based in Blair, Nebraska is expanding our engineering team to include a Process Engineer reporting to the Engineering & Technology Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for engineering efforts in both the lactic acid and lactates plants, continuous improvement campaigns, and helping to manage process safety initiatives.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering required.
- 5+ years of experience in process engineering environment, preferably biorefining, food or chemical manufacturing.
- Understanding of common industrial manufacturing equipment and their applications.
- Working knowledge of food safety standards and good manufacturing practices (GMP) preferred.
- Proven experience applying engineering practices toward feasible solutions.
- Experience using root cause analysis and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
- Proven ability to multi-task in a fast paced, team environment or work independently.
- Excellent verbal/written, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications, as well as utilization of AI tools (i.e. Copilot). SAP is a plus.
- Working knowledge of process safety strategies including process hazard analyses (PHAs), mechanical integrity (MI) and management of change (MOC).
Essential Job Functions:- Subject matter expert for the lactic acid and derivatives processes.
- Leverage engineering background to provide solutions to unique manufacturing problems or improvement opportunities.
- Identify areas for process improvement as it relates to production, revenue, reliability, and sustainability.
- Assist the reliability engineer as necessary to align on key equipment maintenance activities and standard operating conditions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
- Aid in root cause analyses.
- Lead process safety measures to ensure adherence to global policies.
- Support front end loading efforts for new project development.
- Executes QESH standards per defined roles and responsibilities to ensure personal and product safety and quality.
- Assist in new product development.
Physical Demands:The work is performed mainly in the General Office Environment and Plant Operations Areas where PPE is required. Through the course of a typical shift, an individual in this position will perform the following activities:
- Lifting materials up to 50 lbs (rarely)
- Walking, standing, taking stairs (frequently)
- Bending, stooping, kneeling/squatting (occasionally)
- Reach outward, reach overhead % (occasionally)
- Sitting (frequently)
- Ability to handle warm temperatures when in processing areas (occasionally)
