Full Job Description
The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining injection molding processes that deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role applies advanced technical knowledge and continuous improvement methodologies to reduce cycle times, improve product quality, and maximize equipment reliability. In addition, the Process Engineer provides technical leadership, advanced troubleshooting, and training to support operations, while supervising staff and strengthening RD Industries' manufacturing capabilities. This position is 100% on-site at our facility in Omaha, Nebraska. Essential Functions Process Development & Optimization • Develop, document, and validate robust injection molding processes for new and existing products by utilizing scientific molding practices. • Optimize part weight, cycle times, mold configuration, and setup efficiency through data-driven analysis. • Approve process, tooling, and equipment validation settings for new product launches. • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to enhance production performance and capacity. Quality, Troubleshooting & Compliance • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs) for process and product quality issues. • Ensure molding operations comply with ISO 9001 standards, OSHA regulations, and company safety policies. • Manage in-process inspection, testing methods, and documentation to maintain high product reliability. • Support RMA/warranty investigations, provide resolutions, and ensure timely closure of quality hold items. Continuous Improvement & Technical Leadership • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs) for process and product quality issues. • Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs to extend tool and equipment life. • Train and mentor production staff on molding techniques, setup processes, and advanced troubleshooting. • Monitor performance metrics, analyze trends, and communicate results to leadership and stakeholders. Competencies • Advanced knowledge of injection molding machines, tooling, resins, and processing. • Strong skills in Lean, Six Sigma, and process improvement methodologies. • Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD), ERP/MES systems, and Microsoft Office. • Skilled in root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and process validation. • Strong communication, organization, and leadership abilities.
