Who You Will Work With:

The Privacy Lead is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Interac Privacy Office. This includes contributing to Privacy Program strategy, operationalizing privacy requirements, maturing privacy practices across the organization, and providing BAU support to internal stakeholders. In this role, you will proactively identify and solve problems, anticipate internal, external, business, and industry issues, and influence matters that may impact the organization, its functions, or the direction of the business.

Ideally, you are a seasoned, critical-thinking, execution-minded senior privacy professional who will be a key addition to the Privacy Office and a valued strategic partner to the business. You will bring experience delivering in a fast-paced environment with complex internal business unit relationships and external stakeholder relationships.

What You Will Do:

• Operationalize the execution and implementation of the Interac Privacy Management Program, including identifying program action items, impacted business units, priority roadmaps, timelines, reporting requirements, and privacy controls for audit. This will require ongoing engagement with business units, key internal stakeholders, vendors, financial institution stakeholders, and other members of the Interac ecosystem.
• Lead cross-functional privacy forums, either standalone or incorporated into existing forums such as Data Governance or ISMS Governance, with accountable business unit privacy representatives to align business strategy with privacy requirements that impact Interac business units.
• Engage with the Vendor Management Office to operationalize vendor privacy assessments. Continuously improving the PIA process, responding to business unit questions and challenges, reviewing PIAs, drafting PIA reports, and developing privacy remediation and response roadmaps. This includes meeting with business units, Security, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure privacy controls are in place.
• Develop reports on privacy metrics, key topics, and trends for senior leadership and other required reporting purposes.
• Support regulatory investigations and examinations, including those conducted by internal third-line auditors, external auditors, and privacy regulators. Draft audit responses, participate in discussions, and present arguments to influence findings in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
• Remain current with changes to relevant legislation, including PIPEDA, CASL, the Privacy Act, provincial legislation, and guidance released by the OPC. Conduct ongoing research on regulatory decisions, industry trends, and current events related to privacy compliance and best practices, and draft quarterly enterprise communications summarizing key updates.
• Develop and maintain privacy program policies, standards, processes, and procedures, while providing guidance and influencing business areas to incorporate privacy into their processes and documentation.
• Assist with data privacy event investigations and ensure appropriate action is taken as required under PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy laws.
• Manage and respond to data subject complaints from individuals and employees, including updating the Data Subject Standard to align with applicable privacy law modernization and process efficiencies.
• Support the development and implementation of mandatory specialized Canadian privacy training and ongoing privacy awareness initiatives.

What You Bring:

• A bachelor's degree.
• Senior privacy experience in a complex organization, such as a financial institution, payments company, technology company, or fintech.
• IAPP certification, such as Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada (CIPP/C) or Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM).
• Experience developing, or assisting in the development of, a privacy roadmap to support compliance with applicable data privacy laws and regulations.
• Experience implementing processes to maintain compliance in a continuously evolving privacy regulatory landscape.
• Experience working directly with business units to provide practical advice and guidance that enables strategic goals.
• Regulatory experience, including a clear understanding of applicable laws and the implementation and ongoing maintenance of a privacy compliance program.
• Ability to apply applicable privacy laws to a complex suite of Interac services, initiatives, and products, including recognizing when privacy law applies.
• Ability to work at the speed of the business while maintaining appropriate privacy and compliance standards.
• A strategy-enabling mindset that balances business objectives with compliance obligations.
• A high level of independence, judgment, and accountability.
• Clear decision-making skills and the ability to operate effectively within communicated decision authority.
• Strong problem-solving skills, creative thinking, and appropriate risk tolerance.
• Ability to develop and maintain accurate knowledge of Interac's suite of services and products, including detailed understanding of complex data flows.

• Exceptional organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain meticulous records, and complete tasks on time.
• Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.

The hiring range for this position is $110,000.00 - $116,000.00, and you will also be eligible for our short-term incentive plan. The exact amount will depend on factors such as skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, but Interac's commitment goes beyond compensation.
