10-12 years of experience in Quality, Engineering, or Operations within semiconductor or electronics industries (not software or pharmaceuticals)
Proficient in managing and auditing Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949)

Principle Engineer, Product Quality
Location: San Jose (on-site)
Ayar Labs is seeking a strategic and technical Principal Product Quality Engineer to ensure world class products and quality levels. As a fabless semiconductor and module developer and provider, our success relies on the seamless orchestration of both our internal design, manufacturing, our external partners and our quality.
Key Responsibilities
Product Quality
Own quality for one or more products within one of Ayar Labs product families. Collaborate and influence cross-functional teams from design, test, firmware, operations, manufacturing and engineering to procedure world class PPM levels for each product. Utilize existing and develop new quality systems to identify and minimum risk before issues occur. Quickly address issues as they arise. Drive design and manufacturing teams to ensure Quality is built into our products from day one.
Ensure all products meet all Ayar Labs and ISO-9001 Quality standards across all functions including Document Control, Revision Control, Material Review Board, Change Action Board, Calibration, Product Traceability, etc.
Lead, track and resolve all Product Quality issues. Facilitate team meetings across multiple locations and disciplines to identify Root Cause and Preventive Actions.
Risk Management
Define and Facility Design FMEA for your assigned product across all disciplines. Own the Design FMEA over the lifetime of the product. Support Process FMEA with Manufacturing Quality Engineering.
Define and Influence Supplier and Manufacturing Quality criteria to meet our quality Goals. Work with Engineering to review and approve new designs and suppliers.
Design Quality
Participate, influence and lead teams to ensure design quality meets world class standards. Attend status meetings, program reviews, Gate Reviews, and design review meetings. Review and approve all gates and ECO/DCO's.
Coordinate BOM entries with engineering, supply chain and operations.
Ongoing Quality Measures & Monitoring
Develop key metrics to predict quality and to monitor that we are on we are on track to meet all goals
Examples of Metrics: Yield & SPC Monitoring: Establish real-time data hooks into our partners. Monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) and First Pass Yield (FPY) to proactively identify trends before they become field issues.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 10 to 12 years in Quality, Engineering and/ or Operations, in the semiconductor and/or electronics industries. (Not in Software or Pharmaceuticals)
QMS Proficiency: Deep experience managing and auditing an established QMS (ISO 9001 and/ or IATF 16949).
Experience with Quality Management Software (e.g., Arena, Propel, or ETQ) is highly preferred.
Fabless Expertise: Deep experience managing quality through External Foundries, OSATs, and/or Tier 1 Contract Manufacturers.
Technical Breadth: Strong understanding of Semiconductor manufacturing and/or advanced packaging. AND/ OR Familiarity with Photonics, Transceivers or Laser Module assembly (ELSFP), is necessary.
BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Optical Sciences, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
Salary Range: $212,000 to $265,000
