The Devices Software and Services (DS2) team is seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager to lead the Software Regulatory Compliance initiative, a large-scale, highly visible program that spans every Devices product line and demands cross-organizational influence up to the executive level.
The Principal TPM defines the end-to-end framework and institutes the mechanisms that govern the full Software Regulatory Compliance (SWRC) lifecycle. This spans tracking and interpreting upcoming regulations, translating them into actionable requirements ("how to comply") in partnership with Legal, driving implementation and certification, and sustaining compliance and supporting regulatory audits. The role works cross-functionally with Public Policy, Legal, Security, and every Amazon Devices product line, including Kindle, Fire Tablet, Fire TV, Echo, Ring, Blink, and Eero. Working autonomously and with high judgment, the Principal TPM is a trusted partner to Public Policy and Legal. The role leads heterogeneous groups of stakeholders to illuminate the simplest, most efficient path to compliance, and influences decisions and trade-offs with leaders up to the executive level. The Principal TPM sets the strategy and drives the execution, defining the multi-year direction for the compliance function, including how it scales as regulatory obligations grow. A core part of that direction is using AI and automation to maximize reusability across regulations, so each new obligation costs less to meet than the last.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the software regulatory compliance strategy across Devices, working with product lines to anticipate the impact of upcoming and newly enacted regulations and define the readiness plan to meet them ahead of enforcement dates
- Define the end-to-end framework and institute the mechanisms that govern the full compliance lifecycle, from tracking and interpreting regulations, through driving implementation and certification, to sustaining compliance and supporting regulatory audits
- Partner with Public Policy and Legal to translate draft and enacted regulations into clear, actionable engineering requirements, and operationalize "how to comply" across product lines
- Lead heterogeneous groups of stakeholders across Legal, Security, Hardware Compliance, and product line teams to illuminate the simplest, most efficient path to compliance, driving alignment without direct authority
- Establish the standards, tooling, and reporting mechanisms that give leadership clear visibility into compliance status, risk, and readiness across the Devices portfolio
- Negotiate smart trade-offs (e.g., time vs. effort vs. cost) and align competing priorities and roadmaps across product lines to deliver the right outcomes
- Drive cross-functional and cross-organization communication to keep stakeholders aligned, representing difficult decisions and trade-offs clearly to leaders up to the executive level, including in monthly and quarterly business reviews
- Drive continuous improvement in how the organization scales compliance execution, including the use of AI and automation to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency
About the team
DS2 owns the platform layer beneath every Kindle, Echo, Fire TV, and Fire Tablet sold worldwide. We own device identity, registration, OTA updates, telemetry, cloud-to-device messaging, and lifecycle management for hundreds of millions of devices. As the horizontal organization across the Devices portfolio, DS2 also leads flagship programs spanning multiple product lines, including infrastructure optimization and efficiency, next-generation authentication, and software regulatory compliance.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of engineering experience
- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

- 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
