RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: Relocation assistance may be available CLEARANCE REQUIRED FOR START: Yes CLEARANCE TYPE: Secret TRAVEL: Yes, 10% of the Time Description We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal/Senior Principal Chemical Processes Engineer based out of Linthicum, MD This position can be filled as a Principal Chemical Process Engineer or a Senior Principal Chemical Process Engineer. Summary of Role: As a Principal/Senior Principal Chemical Processes Engineer within the Materials Analysis Organization you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. This role is responsible for the safe execution, documentation, and improvement of chemical engineering and analytical chemistry processes, including but not limited to coolants and oils.  A strong understanding of chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials engineering is required.  This individual will work collaborative across multiple disciplines, including materials and processes, manufacturing, operations, and the engineering labs, to establish and streamline a process for coolant testing.  They will be responsible for the oversight of technicians, establishing, test methods and protocols, and the review and communication of results Roles and Responsibilities: • Interface with manufacturing and engineering to identify opportunities for new chemical process development and opportunities for existing process improvement.  • Apply process improvement and engineering methodologies to effectively improve and align sector, division, business unit, and section level processes, and coordinate the evaluation, documentation, and implementation of identified chemical processes to the engineering team.  • Lead and coordinate specific project teams comprised of 2-5 diverse individuals to provide data driven decisions for new process execution.  • Review and understand internal, industry, and customer requirements to ensure our processes align.  • Be involved in both Process and Manufacturing readiness reviews across the division and integrate new capabilities and tools into existing processes.  In • Hold others accountable for timely responses for feedback and documentation being met from an end-to-end system point of view. This position is contingent upon the ability to obtain an active U.S Government Secret Clearance or the successful transfer of an active US. Government Secret Clearance prior to start. Basic Qualifications for a Principal Chemical Process Engineer • Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of experience, master’s degree with 3 years of experience, Ph.D. with 2 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. • U.S Citizenship is required • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance prior to starting. • 5 years of experiencedemonstrating strong leadership and sound judgment in guiding cross-disciplinary teams to assess processes, identify improvement opportunities, develop actionable plans, and lead successful execution. • 5 years of experiencethoughtfully incorporating feedback from technicians, operators, and engineers to help ensure processes are both technically effective and ergonomically practical. • 5 years of experienceestablishing standard operating procedures and proactively partnering with operations teams to encourage consistency, accountability, and adherence. • 5 years of experienceapplying a strong working knowledge of analysis standards such as ASTM, IEEE, and SAE in support of process evaluation and improvement. Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Chemical Process Engineer • Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of experience, master’s degree with 6 years of experience, Ph.D. with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. • U.S Citizenship is required • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance • 8 years of experiencedemonstrating strong leadership and sound judgment in guiding cross-disciplinary teams to assess processes, identify improvement opportunities, develop actionable plans, and lead successful execution. • 8 years of experiencethoughtfully incorporating feedback from technicians, operators, and engineers to help ensure processes are both technically effective and ergonomically practical. • 8 years of experienceestablishing standard operating procedures and proactively partnering with operations teams to encourage consistency, accountability, and adherence. • 8 years of experienceapplying a strong working knowledge of analysis standards such as ASTM, IEEE, and SAE in support of process evaluation and improvement. Preferred Qualifications: • Familiarity with industry and government specifications related to testing and performance of coolant. • Strong technical writing skill and the ability to write process documentation with minimal oversight. • Establishing standard operating procedures and engaging the operations team to ensure these are followed. • Experience testing and reviewing performance data in accordance with internal and industry specifications. • Ability to work independently and under tight schedule constraints to deliver quantifiable results with documented recommendations for when to establish new processes. • Ability to read and understand established processes while looking for opportunities for existing process improvement to increase output while decreasing costs. • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead a cross discipline team to evaluate a process, identify opportunities for improvement, develop a plan, and oversee the plan execution Northrop Grumman provides a comprehensive benefits package and a work environment which encourages your growth and supports the mutual success of our people and our company. Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
