As a Principal Mechanical Engineer at MKS Andover, you will partner with R&D, Engineering, Product management, Applications, and customers to develop and support vacuum valves.
You Will Make an Impact By:- Designs and analyzes mechanical systems, equipment and packaging pertaining to gas flow control and measurement
- Initiates & Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs
- May direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication, thus this candidate is responsible to embrace the "Learn Before You Lead" principle
Skills You Bring: - Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- 8+ years of experiences or equivalent combination of education and experiences with flow
- Working knowledge or at least an understanding of gas dynamic principles
- E.g. Ideal Gas Law, Continuity Equation, Bernoulli's Principle, Shock Waves and Compressibility
- Experience being the lead design engineer though a full phase-gate product development from Concept & Feasibility to Release to Sales. This is inclusive of:
- Working with Marketing on Specification development
- Test Plan generation to validate specifications / new functions (focus on Risk Up Front)
- Cost analysis (inclusive of working with Supply Chain to get quotes)
- Prototype development (MVP)
- Initiating & Leading design reviews
- Overseeing product structuring / mechanical drawings
- Working with Production to flesh out Manufacturing plan
- Working with Reliability (DFMEA, DFX, Life Testing, Qualification)
- Submission of deliverables / reports to Project Manager
- Experience communicating complex topics to a range of technical audiences (in person or remote)
- Ability to work in a fast paced, customer-first, environment
- Customer-first means priorities can change quickly
- Candidate must be able to shift primary focus while keeping a secondary focus on existing work
Preferred Skills: - Master's Degree in Engieering is preferred.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: - Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Operates in a professional and in a laboratory/manufacturing environment
- Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards that may include handling mechanical and electrical hardware, high voltage, gas, water and heat
Salary Pay Range: $101,000 - $169,000 per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs, and other considerations permitted by law.
Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS.
