Description

Job Summary

The Presentation Strategist is a trusted creative partner to the Conference, Events and Experiences (CEE) senior leadership and is skilled at drawing out executive thinking, shaping organizational messaging, and translating both into powerful visual narratives.

This role serves as the department's center of excellence for high-impact communications, with a particular focus on executive briefings, board-level deliverables, and event materials that are clear, persuasive, and authentically reflect leadership's voice and strategic intent.

Beyond production, this role functions as a strategic advisor and intake gatekeeper-evaluating incoming presentation and speech requests for relevancy, leadership alignment, and organizational impact before CEE resources are committed. The ideal candidate is as comfortable in a conversation with an executive refining their message as they are at a design canvas bringing that message to life.

All work produced by this role directly supports the strategic priorities of Conferences, Events and Experiences (CEE) and the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE), ensuring that visual communications reinforce-and visibly align with-the goals, tone, and direction established by both entities. Given the technical depth and professional prestige of the IEEE audience, the Presentation Strategist must demonstrate particular skill in making complex, specialized content accessible and compelling without sacrificing rigor or credibility. This role also serves as a steward of the organization's visual identity, maintaining strict adherence to brand standards across every deliverable.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Briefings & Visual Storytelling

  • Partner directly with senior leaders and executives to extract key messages, clarify objectives, and shape communication strategy before a single slide is built
  • Translate executive thinking, organizational priorities, and complex subject matter into cohesive, audience-centered visual narratives
  • Design and produce board-level presentations and executive briefings with a high degree of sophistication, clarity, and strategic intentionality
  • Apply data storytelling techniques to make complex datasets and analysis compelling, intuitive, and decision-ready for senior audiences
  • Develop animation and motion sequences that reinforce narrative flow and elevate audience engagement without sacrificing professional tone
  • Ensure all deliverables reflect brand standards, align with Multimedia and Production standards, have formatting consistency, and the distinct voice of the executive or team they represent
  • Manage concurrent high-priority projects with tight timelines, maintaining quality and composure under pressure
  • Ensure all materials are developed in direct alignment with the strategic priorities and audience expectations of Conferences, Events and Experiences (CEE) and the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE)-adapting tone, depth, and visual approach accordingly
  • Serve as a brand steward-upholding and consistently applying the organization's visual identity standards across every presentation, briefing, and event asset• Identify and flag visual identity inconsistencies across incoming content, recommending corrections before materials are finalized or distributed

AI-Assisted Production

  • Leverage AI-powered tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Beautiful.ai, Gamma, Canva AI) to accelerate content development, ideation, and layout
  • Evaluate and introduce AI workflows that improve team efficiency and output quality
  • Request Intake & Strategic Vetting• Serve as the primary intake point for all presentation and appearance t-related requests from stakeholders
  • Assess each request against criteria including strategic relevance, audience impact, resource requirements, and organizational priority
  • Communicate clearly with requestors regarding timelines, feasibility, and scope-recommending alternatives or reprioritization where appropriate
  • Maintain a request tracking system to provide visibility into pipeline, workload, and status (likely Monday.com or other enterprise tool)
  • Partner with leadership to establish and enforce intake criteria and service-level expectations
  • Gather, coordinate, and synthesize content contributions from across CEE and other organizational units (OUs) as assigned-serving as the central point of content collection and consolidation ahead of design and production for ED Reports, Board and Committee Presentations and supporting CEE senior staff as needed.
  • Frequently work with head of conferences to translate metrics and dashboard data into strategic storytelling and pitches.• Manage relationships with content owners across groups, ensuring timely submission, clarity of message, and alignment with the overall communication objective

Official Correspondence & Formal Communications

  • Draft and review formal communications-invitations, thank you notes, letters of welcome, and certificates-ensuring appropriate tone, language, and format, familiar with protocol and etiquette
  • Apply consistent visual identity and typographic standards as set by BMC team, to formal documents, maintaining institutional polish and precision
  • Maintain templates for recurring correspondence types to ensure consistency and efficiency across the group.
  • Executive Partnership & Stakeholder Management
  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders, serving as a thought partner in how they communicate with key audiences
