Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to support the timely and effective work of two highly visible committees of the IEEE, the Ethics and Member Conduct Committee (EMCC) and the Conduct Review Committee (CRC). These committees make recommendations for policies and educational programs to promote ethical behavior, spearhead the review and adjudication of alleged professional ethics violations by a member or a non-member involved in IEEE activities, and recommend disciplinary actions, when appropriate. This position will support operations related to committee administration, meetings, financial processes, programs, and communications, and will serve as a lead case manager for ethics-related misconduct reports assigned to the EMCC. This is a complex, detail-oriented, sensitive, collaborative, and fast-paced support function within a highly visible department. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Ethics. IEEE's ethics and conduct processes are confidential. As a member of IEEE's Corporate Governance team, they must be a valued participant by identifying and facilitating ways to innovate and strengthen IEEE, and by collaborating cooperatively and comfortably with internal and external IEEE stakeholders to achieve IEEE's goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works with the chairs, committee members, and IEEE's Legal and Compliance team to implement plans of work that allow the committees to fulfill their charge.
  • Serves as a lead case manager for the EMCC/CRC's review of ethics-related misconduct reports, including providing support for all related investigations, and accurate and timely communication about case outcomes.
  • Collaborates with volunteers from various IEEE OUs to produce ethics-related education presentations, tools, and resources.
  • Produces ethics-related content for education tools and resources.
  • Updates the ethics database routinely to reflect accurate and timely information; prepares reports for committees and leadership as requested.
  • Assists, when appropriate, proposing services and process improvements to further the committees' goals and fulfill IEEE's strategic plan and mission.
  • Creates and produces agendas, minutes, and archival documents; manages all aspects of meeting planning and provides on-site and remote support for EMCC, CRC, hearing boards, and review panels.
  • Updates approved ethics and conduct codes related policies, procedures, forms, and tools; works collaboratively to update specific ieee.org webpages.
  • Administers all aspects of the EMCC Student Ethics Competition Program, including marketing, communications, and reports.
  • Maintains a current understanding of changes and trends within the ethics community and advises appropriate stakeholders.
  • Acts with discretion; establishes and maintains processes to protect confidential verbal, visual, and written information.
  • Works collaboratively as a member of the Corporate Governance team by providing administrative support and identifying improvements to systems and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to accomplish IEEE's goals.
Travel Information
