Operations Opportunity: Preconstruction Project Director We are currently looking for a
Preconstruction Project Director to join our
Operations team located at our headquarters in
Granite City, IL.
Our ideal candidate for a Preconstruction Project Director is someone with 10+ years of experience and a proven ability to ensure consistent, high-quality execution from project award through fabrication, with ongoing support through construction and commissioning. This role drives accountability, upholds standards, and provides strong leadership, coaching, and proactive problem-solving to deliver successful project outcomes.
Primary responsibilities for icon's Preconstruction Project Director include: - Lead, coach, and develop a team of Senior Preconstruction Project Managers through performance management, mentoring, and hands-on support.
- Maintain oversight of assigned preconstruction projects, reinforcing ownership, accountability, and effective execution across schedules, procurement, BIM coordination, change management, and project turnovers.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, stepping in to support critical projects, complex issues, or key milestones as needed.
- Ensure consistent use of company project standards, processes, tools, and required deliverables.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for scope, schedule, procurement, and coordination issues, facilitating resolution across estimating, engineering, VDC, procurement, and construction teams.
- Track team and project performance, report risks and trends to leadership, and drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and process enhancements.
- Collaborate with preconstruction, construction, and operations teams to optimize resources, align planning with field execution, and mitigate project and operational risks.
Primary qualifications for icon's Preconstruction Project Director include: - 10+ years of experience in mechanical construction or pre-construction
- Experience leading or mentoring project teams
- Strong knowledge of BIM, procurement, fabrication, and cost tracking
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:- Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000
