Full Job Description
The Enterprise Effects Division (EED) drives integration of Aerospace's strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise. The division leverages a broad array of engineering disciplines against a wide-ranging and dynamic portfolio of programs, customers, and national challenges. EED spans the capability lifecycle from concept and architecture design to performance assessment to application of space and space-enabled capabilities.

As part of the Enterprise Design Subdivision (EDS), the Portfolio Analysis Department (PAD) drives responsive and comprehensive trades in customer portfolios. Working closely with corporate program offices PAD delivers portfolio decision insights that expand options for senior leaders and accelerates delivery of end effects. PAD integrates expertise, system analysis and design capabilities from across the corporation. To meet the increasing demand for our support, we are looking for an experienced Enterprise Systems Engineer to contribute to a variety of defense, intelligence community, and civil government customers.

This position will be required to work full-time on-site at Aerospace's El Segundo, CA location.

What You'll Be Doing

Strategic Impact & Leadership

  • Drive enterprise architecture, system-of-systems engineering, and strategic planning that shapes portfolio-level missions and future landscapes


  • Develop portfolio-level models and roadmaps that enable stakeholders to make informed, data-driven decisions on complex, cross-organizational challenges


  • Bridge government organizations, internal strategic initiatives, and commercial partners to create cohesive solutions to enterprise-level problems


  • Challenge the status quo and pioneer innovative approaches to mission-critical problems


Technical Excellence

  • Lead high-impact studies designed to solve complex technical challenges and deliver actionable recommendations to senior leadership and customers


  • Provide enterprise engineering and analytical support in portfolio management, digital engineering, and systems engineering across defense, intelligence, and civil government domains


  • Identify and develop new capabilities and enhancements that advance customer programs and architectures


  • Leverage Aerospace's technical backplane to deliver tailored, cutting-edge solutions for customer-specific use cases


Collaboration & Influence

  • Work closely with Aerospace program office personnel and government customers to lead and execute strategic projects


  • Provide ongoing technical consultation and strategic advice to program office, government, and contractors


  • Mentor and develop early career staff, shaping the next generation of technical leaders


  • Occasional travel may be required


What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for the Engineering Specialist - Enterprise Systems Engineering

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, science, or other related technical discipline


  • Typically, 8 years of increasingly responsible experience in systems engineering or other space-related engineering disciplines


  • Experience in systems engineering, enterprise systems engineering, model-based systems engineering, and/or digital engineering


  • Familiar with MBSE modeling languages such as System Modeling Language (SysML) and tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler and SparX Enterprise Architecture


  • Experience with architecture frameworks such as the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) or the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF)


  • Take initiative, have flexibility, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment


  • Excellent interpersonal skills and well adept at oral and written communication


  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects


  • Available and willing to travel domestically, approx. 5-10%


  • Active TS//SCI security clearance


How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, science, or other related technical discipline


  • Experience and familiarity in the systems engineering life cycle


  • Experience in strategic roadmapping, integrated planning, and/or integrated master schedules


  • Experience with DoD systems engineering and programmatic processes, methods, tools, and personnel


  • Demonstrated leadership of broad multidisciplinary teams conducting technical evaluations of complex systems; cost, schedule and risk analysis; portfolio-level trade studies; and requirements development


  • Experience with and/or working knowledge of the Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) span of technical capabilities and organizational construct


  • Experience briefing senior Government leaders (General Officer and/or SES/SIS)

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
