Plumbing Mechanical EngineerThe OpportunityAs a Mechanical Engineer at SHP, you will lead the majority of the plumbing design effort on assigned projects - from early concepts through construction documentation and administration. You'll develop plumbing system designs, supervise junior engineering/design staff, and ensure project quality and technical accuracy.
This role is ideal for engineers who have several years of A/E consulting experience and are ready to take ownership of design leadership and coordination in a highly collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead plumbing system design across most project phases
- Design domestic water, sanitary, storm, natural gas, and specialty plumbing systems
- Serve as a key technical resource for architects, interior designers, and consultants
- Supervise junior engineering and design staff; review work for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare reports, drawings, calculations, and specifications
- Ensure code compliance and provide construction-administration support
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to proposal development
Key RequirementsEducation & Credentials- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 4-7 years of experience in the A/E/C industry
- FE preferred; PE licensure in progress or achieved
- LEED accreditation preferred
Skills & Experience- Strong proficiency in Revit and plumbing system design fundamentals
- In-depth technical knowledge and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead day-to-day engineering workflows and supervise staff
- Strong communication skills for internal collaboration and consultant coordination
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and organization
