Main Duties & Responsibilities

The Plant Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of site operations, including safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. The role owns end-to-end manufacturing execution-from project release and tooling through production and shipment-ensuring operational excellence and a superior customer experience.

This position drives the strategic development of manufacturing capabilities, including process optimization, automation, and scalability, while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and quality standards. Acting as a key member of the leadership team, the Plant Manager builds organizational capability and aligns site operations with business objectives to deliver sustained financial and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities
Operations Leadership & Execution
  • Lead all plant operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives
  • Own production planning, scheduling, and execution in a high-mix, low-volume environment
  • Ensure effective plant layout, resource utilization, and operational efficiency
  • Drive implementation of layered process audits and operational standards

Strategy and Continuous Improvement
  • Develop and execute the site's annual operations strategy and continuous improvement roadmap
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste and improve productivity
  • Lead adoption of automation, advanced manufacturing technologies, and scalability solutions

Quality and Customer Experience
  • Own customer experience from project release through final shipment
  • Partner with Quality to ensure compliance with ISO, FDA, and regulatory standards
  • Support feasibility assessments and provide technical leadership on new business opportunities
  • Ensure effective CAPA and root cause analysis processes

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure adherence to ISO 13485, FDA QMSR, and other applicable standards
  • Identify and mitigate operational and compliance risks

Financial Performance & Business Management
  • Own plant-level financial performance, including gross margin, labor cost, and cost of waste
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and capital investment plans
  • Drive cost improvement and operational efficiency initiatives

Leadership and Organization
  • Lead, coach, and develop the operations leadership team (tooling, molding, maintenance, engineering)
  • Build a strong talent pipeline through workforce planning and succession planning
  • Drive employee engagement, accountability, and high-performance culture

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Safety performance and incident reduction
  • On-time delivery and schedule adherence
  • Gross margin performance and cost control
  • Cost of waste (COW) reduction and productivity improvement
  • Quality metrics, including defect rates and customer complaints
  • Inventory accuracy and working capital management
  • Manufacturing efficiency and labor utilization

This role is required to be on-site 5 days at the Clinton Township, MI location.

Qualifications

10+ years of leadership experience in plastic injection molding or advanced manufacturing
Strong expertise in scientific molding (RJG/Decoupled processing)
Experience with mold design, tooling, and high-precision manufacturing
Background in regulated manufacturing environments (ISO 13485, FDA, ITAR)
Proven leadership in Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement
Experience with automation, assembly operations, and production scaling
Financial acumen with experience managing plant-level performance metrics
