Position Summary
AdvanSix is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to support site financial planning, analysis, cost accounting, forecasting, financial reporting, and business partnering activities for the Hopewell, VA manufacturing plant.
Reporting to the Site Controller, this role serves as a key business partner to site leadership, operations, maintenance, engineering, supply chain, and corporate finance teams to support financial performance, operational decision-making, and cost competitiveness.
The Finance Manager will play a key role in month-end close, forecasting, annual operating planning, cost accounting, inventory analysis, capital project support, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position offers broad exposure across manufacturing operations and provides the opportunity to influence business decisions through financial insight and analysis. This is an individual contributor role with significant interaction across site and corporate leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the monthly financial close process, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Support the preparation and analysis of monthly financial results, highlighting key drivers of production, cost, inventory, and operational performance.
- Support and coordinate the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), budget, and periodic forecast processes, including fixed and variable costs, headcount, capital spending, and productivity initiatives.
- Partner with cost center owners to develop budgets, forecasts, spending plans, and variance explanations while providing financial guidance and support for operational decision-making.
- Support forecasting activities through analysis of cost, production, and spending trends, including identification of risks and opportunities.
- Lead and coordinate standard costing, inventory valuation, product costing, and cost accounting activities for manufactured products.
- Coordinate period-end inventory processes, standard cost updates, cost rolls, and manufacturing variance analysis.
- Support capital project activities through financial analysis, accounting guidance, and coordination with the Capital Projects team.
- Partner closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and supply chain leaders to identify productivity improvements, cost reduction opportunities, and operational efficiencies.
- Serve as a trusted finance business partner by providing financial insight and business analysis to support site decision-making.
- Support compliance with SOX controls, company policies, and U.S. GAAP requirements.
- Support internal and external audits and assist with timely completion of audit requests.
- Prepare ad hoc financial analyses, reporting, and business cases to support operational and financial decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
- CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, including at least 3 years of manufacturing finance, cost accounting, plant finance, or operations finance experience.
- Chemical, process manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, or heavy manufacturing experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Strong knowledge of standard costing, product costing, inventory accounting, fixed asset accounting, capital project accounting, manufacturing variance analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and month-end close processes.
- Hands-on SAP experience required, including FI/CO, Product Costing (CO-PC), Cost Center Accounting, Inventory Valuation, Fixed Assets, and Month-End Close Processes. SAP S/4HANA experience preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Working knowledge of SOX internal controls.
- Strong analytical, business partnering, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to communicate financial results and business insights effectively to non-finance leaders.
Expected salary range is between 120,000.00-160,000.00
