POSITION SUMMARY
Reports to: Plant & Equipment LeadThe Plant and Equipment Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all surface-level equipment, machinery, and related operations to support tunneling and civil construction activities. This role ensures the effective deployment, maintenance, and performance of surface plant equipment, while coordinating closely with site teams and the Plant & Equipment Lead to maintain safe and efficient operations.
The Plant and Equipment Supervisor's key responsibilities are:
- Coordinate and supervise surface equipment operations, ensuring all machinery is available, functional, and deployed efficiently to meet project needs.
- Support procurement activities for surface machinery, including identifying requirements, assisting with quotations, and liaising with approved vendors.
- Monitor and maintain equipment inventory at the surface site, ensuring adequate stock levels of consumables, spare parts, and critical components.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, including equipment specifications, maintenance records, inspection logs, certifications, and warranty files.
- Implement and oversee preventive maintenance schedules for surface equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and minimizing operational downtime.
- Coordinate equipment mobilization and demobilization activities for all surface equipment supporting tunnel construction.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting to site teams regarding equipment performance, malfunctions, and optimization.
- Facilitate communication with the Plant & Equipment Lead, vendors, mechanics, and construction teams to ensure alignment on equipment status and operational priorities.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company procedures during equipment handling, operation, and maintenance.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS- Diploma or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in heavy equipment coordination, fleet management, or plant operations in civil, tunneling, or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with equipment tracking systems, maintenance software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse site teams.
JOB REQUIREMENTS- Understanding of surface equipment used in tunnel construction environments (e.g., cranes, compressors, generators, slurry treatment equipment, material-handling machinery).
- Familiarity with maintenance processes, safety protocols, and operational standards for heavy civil machinery.
- Ability to work in a dynamic construction environment with shifting priorities.
- Multilingual capability (Spanish, English, French) considered an asset.
Compensation Range: CAD 126,000 - CAD 148,000
