Full Job Description

The Division of Acute Care at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital (HDVCH) is seeking a physician leader to serve as Section Chief for Newborn Services and Affiliate Pediatric Hospital Medicine. This role provides clinical, operational, and strategic leadership for Newborn Services across Corewell Health West, including Butterworth Hospital and regional nurseries, as well as Pediatric Hospital Medicine services at affiliated community hospitals.

The Section Chief will work collaboratively with APP leadership, operational leaders, and physician partners to support staffing, quality, program development, and the delivery of exceptional patient care across the network. This busy program manages more than 10,000 newborns each year.

Applicants should demonstrate a record of clinical excellence in Pediatric Hospital Medicine andNewborn Medicine, skill in delivery room management and neonatal resuscitation, and collaborative approach to working withand leading a multidisciplinary team. This position will be based out of Helen DeVos Children's Hospital and Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. Work includes leadership oversight and possibly intermittent clinical work at affiliated regional and community hospitals. Academic appointment at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.

Board-eligible/board-certified in General Pediatrics required; BE/BC in Pediatric Hospital Medicine preferred but not required

HDVCH is a 241-bed tertiary care referral center with approximately 11,000 pediatric admissions per year, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. There are over 110,000 ambulatory visits, as well as over 55,000 children are seen in the Pediatric Emergency Department (Level 1 Trauma rated) each year. There are nearly10,000 deliveries per year and we have one of the nation's largest NICUs with over 100 beds. We are home to a large pediatrics residency program and 7 pediatric fellowship programs. Our faculty are heavily involved with teaching medical students, residents, and fellows both at the bedside and in the classroom.

Our affiliated regional nurseries are level 1 nurseries connected to HDVCH with shared leadership and clinical oversight. These facilities have ready access to NICU tele support and rapid transfer of sick infants via our transport team when a higher level of care is needed.
