The West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and WVU School of Medicine seek a Neurologist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor) for its School of Medicine Eastern Division regional campus. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Martinsburg, WV and Spring Mills, WV.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the area of neurology. In addition to providing patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students and residents.

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical licensure. Successful candidate must have completed a neurology residency program and must be board certified/eligible in Neurology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

The WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (RNI) is a comprehensive multidisciplinary patient care, education, and research institute providing neurological and mental healthcare through more than 300,000 visits annually. The 300+ physicians and scientists of the RNI improve lives by pioneering advances in neuroscience, brain health, and therapeutics. The RNI team uses the latest technologies with academic, government, and industry partners to make tangible progress to combat public health challenges ranging from addiction to Alzheimer's disease.

The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginia's largest health system and the state's largest employer. The System has undergone significant expansion in specialty and sub-specialty care in areas such as cancer, heart and vascular, and neuroscience, among many others. The Health System operates West Virginia's first and only multi-organ transplant center, and opened a new, 150-bed Children's Hospital in September 2022. Today, the WVU Health System has more than 3,400 licensed beds, 4,600 providers, and nearly 35,000 employees. Anchored by an 880-bed academic medical center in Morgantown, the Health System includes 25 member hospitals that collectively serve a multi-state region.

Successful candidates will join an academically oriented, supportive, collegial group with a focus on evidence-based medicine, progressive teaching, and research. The general neurology practice sees a wide variety of neurologic conditions, including epilepsy/seizure disorders, stroke, chronic headaches/migraines, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's disease. Opportunities also exist to develop subspecialty interests. WVU Medicine is very supportive of the use of Advance Practice Providers to enhance patient care and has outstanding clinical and administrative support staff to maximize the day-to-day operations of the office.

Our Eastern Panhandle location is little more than an hour from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD. A rural atmosphere and a lower cost of living mixed with the easy accessibility to the Washington DC/ Baltimore areas make the Eastern Panhandle an ideal place to live. While Berkeley County is among the fastest growing counties in the state, there is little congestion and traffic. In recent years, a steady influx of urban professionals from nearby Washington, DC and Baltimore, Maryland have contributed to the growth of local telecommuting and high-tech industries.
