Opportunity Information

Sutter East Bay Medical Group (SEBMG) seeks to hire a Board-Certified Hematologist/Oncologist to join our growing oncology program at Delta Medical Center in Antioch, California.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a community oncologist who is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centered cancer care while helping to grow and shape a rapidly expanding oncology program. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing oncology services in East Contra Costa County and advancing multidisciplinary cancer care in collaboration with colleagues across the Sutter network.

Clinical Focus

This position is primarily focused on the care of patients with solid tumors in a community oncology setting. Candidates should be comfortable managing both hematologic and oncologic conditions commonly encountered in practice and committed to providing comprehensive cancer care close to home.

Physicians with a particular clinical interest or expertise in areas such as breast, gastrointestinal, thoracic, or genitourinary oncology are encouraged to apply. Opportunities exist to further develop disease-specific expertise while maintaining the breadth of a community hematology-oncology practice.

The successful candidate will participate in multidisciplinary care delivery and contribute to the continued growth and development of oncology services throughout the region.

Leadership Opportunity

The successful candidate will serve as Medical Director of Infusion Services at Delta Medical Center and work closely with nursing, pharmacy, and operational leaders to support excellence in cancer care delivery.

Responsibilities include:
  • Medical oversight of a six-chair outpatient oncology infusion center
  • Partnership with nursing and operational leadership to improve quality, safety, and patient experience
  • Development and implementation of clinical protocols and operational workflows
  • Monitoring and improvement of access, utilization, quality, and patient satisfaction metrics
  • Supervision, mentorship, and collaboration with an Oncology Advanced Practice Clinician (APC)
  • Participation in oncology program growth, strategic planning, and physician recruitment initiatives

Practice Environment

This is a unique opportunity to help build and shape a growing community oncology program at Delta Medical Center. Supported by a strong organizational commitment to expanding cancer services in East Contra Costa County, the program includes a newly developed oncology infusion center, a recently recruited Oncology Advanced Practice Clinician (APC), and plans for continued expansion of multidisciplinary cancer services.

The successful candidate will work closely with administrative, nursing, and physician leadership to establish and grow the program, enhance patient access, and develop high-quality, locally delivered cancer care. Future growth plans include the recruitment of additional oncology specialists and the development of a more comprehensive multidisciplinary model, including surgical oncology services.

This role offers a rare opportunity to combine clinical practice with leadership and program development, helping to define the future of oncology care at Delta Medical Center and throughout East Contra Costa County.

Academic & Collaborative Opportunities

As part of the broader Sutter oncology network, physicians have opportunities to participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, disease-specific case conferences, quality initiatives, and program development activities.

The practice benefits from collaboration with colleagues at the Stanford Medicine Sutter Health Cancer Center (SMSHCC), providing access to subspecialty expertise, multidisciplinary discussions, clinical pathway development, and regional oncology initiatives. Physicians interested in clinical leadership, program development, and advancing cancer care delivery will find a highly collaborative environment with strong connections across the system.
