Full Job Description
Basic Function: Provide physical therapy treatments and procedures.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide direct service (evaluation, therapy, consultation, etc.) to individuals with appropriate prescription.
  • Develop and maintain treatment plans and service documentation.
  • Provide supervision of physical therapist assistants as may be assigned, consistent with practice act.
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with patients and families, and other involved parties.
  • Provide consultative services when appropriate for individuals and as a member of Inspire's treatment teams.
  • Maintain therapy equipment and therapeutic environment in appropriate conditions.
  • Prepare required paperwork, including contact notes and reports, consistent with Inspire policies, program & state regulations, and practice act/ licensure law.
  • Follow current Policies & Procedures regarding patient care, including Privacy & Security compliance. Be thoroughly familiar with Department and program-specific policies and procedures.

Additional Functions:
  • Attends staff meetings, and serves as a member of a transdisciplinary team.
  • Participates in off-site meetings, parent groups and public awareness programs as needed.
  • Stay current on physical therapy practices, treatment and evaluation methods.
  • Maintain currency of licensing and all other credentials.
  • Obtain continuing educational credits as may be required by the New York State licensing authority and the Office of the Professions.
  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures. Insures that clients/students/program participants receive services in a safe environment. Encourages co-workers to follow safety policies and procedures. Reports any potential unsafe conditions to supervisor and/or Safety Committee.
  • Follows current policies and procedures regarding compliance with privacy, security and corporate compliance policies. Be thoroughly familiar with department and program specific policies and procedures.


Requirements

Qualifications Masters degree or higher in Physical Therapy. New York State license and registration as a Physical Therapist. Demonstrated ability to work well within a team

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and/or stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch. The employee must frequently lift children and adults. Normal or corrective vision is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
