Full Job Description
  • Looking for a Full-time Pharmacy Manager! (30-40 hours/week)
  • Hours of operation are Monday - Friday: 9:00am - 5:30pm, Saturday: 9:00am - 12:00pm and Closed Sundays.
  • This position would be a Monday - Friday position, with occasional weekend shifts with competitive wages.

Job Description: The Pharmacy Manager will oversee all aspects of the operation of the pharmacy department in one of the Sterling Pharmacies.

Core Competencies & Responsibilities:

  • Train staff pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and customer service associates
  • Manage pharmacy staff schedules, vacation requests, and payroll
  • Adhere to policies and procedures related to pharmacy operations
  • Stay abreast of and manage staff compliance with all statutes, rules and regulations related to pharmacy practice, both State and Federal
  • Review prescription drug pricing to achieve optimal gross profit margins
  • Manage inventory levels to achieve optimal return on investment
  • Represent Sterling Pharmacy as a pharmacist to the general public and at professional events
  • Promote community involvement
  • Receive, process, fill, and check prescriptions accurately and in a timely manner
  • Collect appropriate information for billing of Medicaid and Medicare for DME and supplies and reconcile claims to ensure adequate payment
  • Ensure that patients are counseled on all new prescriptions and on any refills where there has been a change in therapy or patient condition
  • Work in conjunction with other corporate staff to ensure compliance with all policies and procedures
  • Communicate with pharmacy staff, store manager, and district managers on a regular basis
  • Provide energy to new company initiatives, i.e. med sync, diabetic shoes, fundraisers
  • Monitor and analyzes pharmacy reports
  • Be aware of and support promotional activity within the pharmacy and Home Health Care category
  • Respond to emails, voice messages and memos from corporate staff in a timely fashion (typically within one business day
  • Encourage professional growth of staff pharmacists and ancillary staff
  • Provide the best possible service to our patients
  • Help with the development of (and participate in) new programs and services for pharmacists to help our patients achieve positive therapeutic outcomes
  • Collaborate with other pharmacy managers to ensure optimization of pharmacy practice
  • Respond to all patient inquiries in a timely fashion
  • Be prepared to perform all tasks of pharmacy technicians and customer service associates, when necessary
  • Assist other Sterling pharmacies, when possible (questions, staffing needs, etc.)
  • Address and resolve customer and employee concerns/complaints
  • Meet with vendors of pharmacy related products
  • Manage continuous quality improvement and quality assurance programs in pharmacies
  • Encourage and facilitate continuing education of pharmacy staff
  • Represent Astrup Drug at local and state pharmacy meetings
  • Adapt quickly to company changes related to policy and workflow
  • Complete other duties as assigned
  • Conduct and engage with weekly/daily touchpoint meetings with staff, then follow up to ensure there is follow through what was discussed
  • Encourage and support employees engaging with customer on all marketing material given by corporate
  • Inform and engage with employees on the Profit Incentive Program
  • Work with the store manager where applicable to implement any necessary programs, communications, and training
  • Manage store compliance with financial budgets.

Physical Requirements & Work Demands:
  • The ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and occasionally more
  • The ability to maintain a flexible schedule including early morning, evening and weekend hours
  • In a typical 8-hour day lifting or carrying items up to approximately 25 lbs.
  • In a typical day standing approximately 8 hours
  • In a typical 8-hour day reading approximately 20 emails and responding to all of them
  • In a typical 8-hour day spending 2 hours on the telephone

Working Environment:The working environment will be in a retail pharmacy setting and will be of normal climate and temperature.
