Summary of Position

The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Temple University Health System is seeking a full-time Hematopathologist.

The successful candidate will be appointed as a full-time faculty member at the Associate, or Professor level within either the Clinical Scholar or Clinical Educator track, commensurate with experience and academic accomplishments. While candidates at all ranks will be considered, individuals with demonstrated experience and seniority in Hematopathology practice are strongly preferred.

Qualified candidates who can contribute through their research, teaching, and/or service to the diversity and excellence of the academic mission of the department are also preferable. Candidates with established track records of clinical excellence, leadership, teaching, or program development will be given priority consideration.

The Section of Hematopathology is staffed by three hematopathologists providing consultative and special services to the hematology and oncology departments at Temple University Hospital and Jeanes Hospital. Hematopathologists direct hematopathology and coagulation testing (approximately three million studies per year) and flow cytometric analysis/studies for lymphocyte subsets and comprehensive immunophenotyping for diagnosis and management of hematologic malignancies in five hospitals of Temple University Health System, including Temple University Hospital, Jeanes, Chestnut Hill, Women's & Families and Episcopal Hospitals. Hematopathology laboratories are equipped with state-of art same testing platforms. Lab management at each site works in close coordination with the hematopathology faculty. The section participates in teaching pathology residents, hematology/oncology fellows, and medical students on a rotating basis and undergraduate medical technologists. The department offers excellent opportunities and support for translation research.

Candidate Qualifications
  • M.D., D.O., or foreign equivalent with board certification/board eligible in Anatomic Pathology preferred.
  • Candidates will be board-certified in hematopathology
  • Fellowship training in a subspeciality area of hematopathology combined with 3- 5 years post fellowship experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in hematopathology pathology sign-out, with increasing levels of responsibility and/or leadership, is highly desirable.
  • Proven commitment to teaching, mentoring, and academic engagement is preferred, especially for senior-level appointments.
  • Must be eligible for and able to obtain medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to the start date.
