Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience working with client-side web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or HTTP).
  • 3 years of experience coding with one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C , Python).
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues for internal/external partners or customers.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience managing complex technical projects, programs, or partner integrations with high ambiguity. Experience in a consulting, partner engineering, solutions architecture, or client-facing technical role.
  • Experience in operations management (e.g., process improvement, operational reviews, optimizing workflows, etc.).
  • Experience evaluating undefined technical requirements and independently leading technical discovery with enterprise partners.
  • Experience building test automation, mock services, or synthetic e-commerce test harnesses.
  • Experience with e-commerce, APIs, structured data schemas, and programming in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, or Java.

Shopping Partner Engineering is the technical bridge between Google and the global commerce ecosystem. We enable retailers, aggregators, and platforms to integrate with Google's commerce products and surfaces via the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), Merchant API, and Google Business Profile API.

Our team drives both 0-to-1 incubation and 1-to-N scaling. We lead early-stage technical pilots, build reference implementations and developer tools, and work closely with Google Engineering and Product teams to harden automated onboarding rails across 35k ecosystem integrations. We act as advocates of the customer and partner experience, advocating for product and tools improvements backed by data-driven insights.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $127000 - $182000 (USD) 15% bonus target equity benefits

Responsibilities
  • Drive zero-to-one partner scoping and technical discovery to define requirements for schemas, availability models, and multi-fulfillment workflows across emerging verticals adopting UCP.
  • Offer specialized technical subject matter expertise, implementation reviews, and integration support during staging configuration, payload validation, and comprehensive partner testing.
  • Reproduce, isolate, and debug technical anomalies encountered during live upper-funnel feature pilots within defined service level agreements.
  • Build synthetic testbeds, reference mocks, validation scripts, code samples, and integration recipes on developers.google.com to expedite onboarding against evolving protocol schemas.
  • Collaborate with Core Engineering and Product Management teams across California, London, and Zurich to test protocol capabilities and advocate for data-backed product improvements.
