Job Description:

An exciting opportunity exists to join a team of attorneys and paralegals on the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Legal Team within Caterpillar’s Law, Security & Public Policy Division (LSPP) to support all of Caterpillar’s acquisition, divestment, joint venture and venture capital transactions worldwide. This role provides an opportunity to work with leaders and subject matter experts across the enterprise, get involved in special projects, and lead tasks as needed by the team. Successful candidates will be process driven, have an interest in the M&A function of LSPP, be able to prioritize multiple projects, and have an interest in gaining experience across a broad range of legal fields.

This position will support the attorneys with traditional paralegal responsibilities across all areas of the legal functional area and will be a core part of Caterpillar’s M&A process by performing as the due diligence coordinator for all transactions. Legal support and projects will be assigned according to the complexity of the work and by the prior experiences of the team; legal work performed by the team’s paralegal will be under the direction of attorneys.

What You Will Do:

  • Support M&A attorneys and Corporate Development clients

  • Manage the due diligence process throughout various transactions

  • Manage multiple tasks at once with varying timelines; organize various meetings across all time zones; coordinate and lead various meetings with large attendance base (50+ attendees)

  • Build and enhance process improvement projects and maintain and present training materials to members across the enterprise

  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation

  • Document Management: Knowledge of document management; ability to categorize, integrate, update, document and distribute business information in a secure, effective way

  • Legal Analysis: Knowledge of methods and tools used in legal analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from both legal and factual information

Basic Qualifications:

  • Four (4) year university or college degree and 8+ years of job-related experience

  • Paralegal Certificate (not required if have 2-year degree in Paralegal Studies)

  • The location for this position is Irving, TX

  • International and Domestic travel up to 5%

Summary Pay Range:

$81,370.00 - $122,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
