FTS has an opportunity for an Operations Engineer in Las Cruces, NM.
The Operations Engineer will be involved throughout the development lifecycle by analyzing and developing concepts of operations, requirements, participating in design reviews, analyzing test results during verification and validation, coordinating with satellite operators to ensure validity of operational processes and procedures, through vehicle launch and initialization.
Responsibilities- Provide subject matter expertise of satellite (bus and payload) and ground development lifecycle, integration, and transition to operations
- Experience in operational readiness, rehearsals, and system testing
- Perform technical analyses; document, and present findings
- Assist Customer in the application of mission resources
- Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology
- Analyze concepts of operations, user requirements, and high-level systems architectures to develop system requirements
- Collaborate with SETA team members, development contractors, and customer forums
- Effectively communicate and interface with engineers from various contractors and government organizations; prepare and present briefings to customer on technical topics when requested
- Collaborate with government personnel and other contractors (often across multiple sites and organizational levels) to provide unbiased analysis and recommendations on courses of actions to address risks/issues or approaches to exploit an opportunity
- Understand and operate in a dynamic, multi-organizational environment
Required Skills/Qualifications- TS/SCI with polygraph
- BS STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) in engineering discipline
- 9+ years of relevant experience
- Expertise in full system engineering life cycle from concept, requirements, design & development, to deployment and operational maintenance
- Experience with project management supporting the delivery, integration, and transition of mission systems and/or mission applications
- Ability to work independently to support multiple government customers and large, complex projects to address organization's needs throughout system development lifecycle
- Self-starter, proactively address customer requirements without supervision, readily define solutions for broad, abstract topics
- Polished communicator (written/verbal), impeccable interpersonal skills and personal judgment, and comfortable briefing or communicating with senior government managers
- Strength in collaborating and coordinating with multiple stakeholders -- consensus builder
Desired Skills/Qualifications- Real-time operations experience as a GEOINT spacecraft operator, spacecraft engineer, or ground systems operator, familiarity with space operations and policies, ground operations, and system requirements/governance policies
- Experience supporting Enterprise test activities, including representing stakeholder interests, ensuring operational requirements are integrated into test planning and execution, and identifying and deconflicting resource constraints
- Familiar with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Engineering/Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Agile development, cloud technologies
Expected Salary Range: $147,000 - $155,000 per year. Placement within the range is determined by qualifications, job-related criteria, experience, internal equity and market considerations.
