OverviewWe have an exciting opportunity at the Department of State! Deployment & Installation Engineer provides successful, efficient, and timely execution of all physical deployment and installation activities for hardware and software upgrades across all worldwide consular facilities, including Foreign Service Posts, passport agencies, and domestic centers. This critical support encompasses delivering Server Installation Support Services and executing meticulous Hardware Configuration Management (HCM) for all designated customer configurable items to maintain operational readiness and security across the customer technology infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- In this role, you will Ensure all installations are planned for completion by dedicated onsite teams.
- You will provide a plan for all pilot or beta system support trips within five days of Government approval.
- You will be expected to accelerate, expand, lessen, or adjust deployment trips as required for special circumstances, such as the need for rapid deployment of new or complex applications, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to schedule changes.
- The Deployment & Installation Engineer provides server installation support services, including non-routine (e.g., emergency) services, and execute HCM for all configurable items.
- In support of active deployment, you will perform necessary operating system configuration and security fixes, software application installations and upgrades, security patches, one-off application/security deployments, and Oracle database changes.
- You will conduct site surveys and deliver recommendations for renovations, infrastructure components, and physical placement of equipment at all locations.
- This role will deliver deployment tracking reports for both post self-installs and those performed by the installation team.
- You will coordinate logistics with other functional contract elements (e.g., shipping and receiving, deployment, training).
- Additionally, you will create accurate technical documents for all server installation activities.
- You will be part of a team providing additional resources, including temporary specialized teams (e.g., Tiger Teams), as needed to respond to special projects and surges in deployment support that arise outside routine programs.
- You will also deliver and maintain an installation and upgrade schedule, develop comprehensive project plans and schedules for all special projects and refine, execute, and maintain SOPs for deployments, reviewing them semi-annually and implementing recommended improvements.
- You will develop and maintain a comprehensive server refresh plana for all worldwide customer facilities, coordinating with Facility POCs to minimize disruptions.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The following are the education and experience required for this position:
- 5+ years
- Bachelor's in IT or related field
- CompTIA Server+ or MCSA-equivalent
- Secret Security Clearance
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Comp TIA Sec+, ITIL 4 Foundation Certification(s)
