Description

Looking for a full-time Nurse Practitioner in Pueblo, CO to conduct compensation and disability exams for military members, wounded warriors and veterans.
Position Summary

The Practitioner will review pertinent medical history documentation and conduct one-time, non-treatment Compensation and Pension (C&P) examinations for Veterans. During the examination, the Practitioner will capture responses using a web-based examination platform. All documentation is completed electronically, and completed examinations are submitted to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for disability award determinations.

Full-time 5 days/week

Monday - Friday, 0800 - 1600
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Conduct one-time, non-treatment examinations related to a Veteran's disability claim.
• Review the Veteran's medical history, including an abstract highlighting relevant aspects of the claim.
• Utilize medical history documentation and Veteran responses to complete Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) within a web-based system.
• Ensure accurate, timely, and complete electronic documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Required
• Master's degree from an accredited university in a Nurse Practitioner program.
• Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in any healthcare setting.
• Current, unrestricted state license in the state where practicing.
• Highly organized, self-directed professional with the ability to work in a high-volume environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and strong technical aptitude.
• Computer proficient; EMR experience preferred but not required.
• Previous VA or compensation examination experience preferred but not required.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate effectively.
• Ability to analyze medical information, problems, procedures, and situations.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and remain self-motivated.

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and body systems.
• Knowledge of EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

• High attention to detail with the ability to identify errors or inconsistencies.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Understanding of applicable policies and procedures.
Physical Demands

The position is primarily sedentary, with occasional standing or walking. The role requires the ability to access files, supplies, and equipment as needed and may involve moving light equipment or supplies.
Work Environment
