Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC's), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community.

This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport.

We are seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Nurse Manager (Full Time)

The Nurse Manager - Behavioral Health is responsible for the operational, clinical, and administrative leadership of the Behavioral Health unit. This role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered psychiatric care while promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The Nurse Manager oversees daily unit operations, staffing, regulatory compliance, budget management, quality outcomes, and professional development of nursing staff.

Job Duties/Responsbilities:
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the daily operations of the Behavioral Health unit.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, coach, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff.
  • Develop staffing plans and manage scheduling to ensure appropriate staffing levels and fiscal responsibility.
  • Foster a positive work environment that supports employee engagement, retention, and professional growth.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory agencies, accreditation standards, and behavioral health best practices.
  • Monitor patient safety initiatives, including suicide prevention, violence prevention, restraint and seclusion compliance, and de-escalation practices.
  • Lead performance improvement initiatives using quality metrics, patient satisfaction data, and clinical outcomes.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, case managers, therapists, security, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Review incident reports and implement corrective action plans to improve patient and staff safety.
  • Oversee medication management processes and ensure adherence to psychiatric treatment protocols.
  • Manage departmental budgets, productivity, and resource utilization.
  • Ensure completion of annual competencies, mandatory education, and staff performance evaluations.
  • Participate in strategic planning, policy development, and hospital committees.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and leader during emergencies, patient escalations, and crisis situations.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and support staff education and certification.

Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Behavioral Health nursing experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive leadership or management experience in an inpatient behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Experience with psychiatric crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and patient safety initiatives.
  • DC RN License required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or equivalent crisis intervention certification preferred.
  • ANCC Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (PMH-BC) preferred.
