What does a (Medical Assistance) Nurse Advisor at Crisis24 do?

  • This role will provide Medical Assistance and Claims Management services for insurers and brokers around the world. Our expertise in Claims Management, pioneering processes, in-house professionals and worldwide network of associates, are what make us stand out to our partners and their customers.
  • The (Medical Assistance) Nurse Advisor is critical in supporting the Medical Operations - Medical Team department and is integral to the provision of Medical Assistance.
  • Our role is to review medical information in a timely fashion and provide an expert opinion on how to provide the highest level of care to our client group.
  • The types of cases we manage vary widely from oversight of non-urgent outpatient reviews to emergency medical evacuations.
  • Our client groups are located all around the world and as such, we need to be prepared to interact with medical professionals from different countries to obtain medical information in a timely fashion to provide an effective response.
  • We ask our medical team to draw upon their own experience and the shared experience of the team to provide an informed opinion on case management.
  • The Medical Team are a small team which makes good communication skills essential as we very much encourage team working.


Location: Annapolis, Maryland, US | Hybrid

Working hours: This position offers a schedule of five days per week, with rotating weekend coverage approximately once every four weeks. Team members work 8.5-hour daytime shifts, with no overnight responsibilities.

Essential Requirements:

The (Medical Assistance) Nurse Advisor is central to decision making on cases. They must have recent clinical expertise, preferably from a critical care area. They must have effective communication skills. Critical thinking is a key component of our role so the Nurse needs to be able to draw upon their own experience and the experience of other members of the team to make informed decisions.

The role holder will be responsible for:
  • Day to day case management
  • Reaching out and contacting medical professionals on an international basis to gain medical updates on a patient's condition.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills when planning for case management
  • Liaise with colleagues within the Operations team to ensure open effective communication.
  • Perform telephonic patient assessments.
  • Provide remote health advice for some of our prestige clients.


Knowledge, skills and experience required as a (Medical Assistance) Nurse Advisor?

  • Must be a qualified and registered nurse
  • Must have the ability to provide correct clinical judgement when dealing with assistance escalation
  • Own and promote medical case handling procedures
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience, preferably in a critical care setting but other settings will be considered if the experience is suitable.
  • The ability to plan and manage their caseload.
  • Good Problem-solving skills

Additional Information

Applicants will need to have a valid passport to travel as training will likely be provided in the UK.

Salary range: $90,000-$95,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
