Job Title: North America Medical Head, General Medicines
Main Responsibilities:Medical Strategy & Leadership
- Define and champion a compelling, patient-centric vision for Medical in Gen Med North America, fully aligned with global strategy and local business priorities.
- Provide strategic leadership for the medical function, partnering with commercial, access, and R&D teams to co-create integrated plans that ensure scientific rigor and measurable patient outcomes.
- Represent Medical on the NA Leadership Team, contributing to enterprise-wide decisions and shaping the overall business direction.
- Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing medical team of approximately 100professionals, building a strong talent pipeline and fostering a culture of scientific excellence and continuous learning.
Compliance, Ethics & Risk Management
- Establish and enforce the highest ethical standards across all medical activities, serving as a role model for proactive compliance and quality management.
- Ensure robust medical governance, including appropriate oversight of marketing activities (symposia, scientific communications, promotional materials) within a patient-centered risk/benefit framework.
- Lead effective and timely resolution of key compliance issues, ensuring adherence to all applicable regulations and Sanofi policies.
Product Lifecycle & Launch Excellence
- Lead medical affairs activities across pre-launch, launch, and post-launch phases, ensuring optimal lifecycle management for all General Medicines products.
- Partner with Research, Clinical Development, Commercial, Health Economics, Value & Access, and Product Management to deliver integrated, evidence-based strategies that support product differentiation and patient access.
Budget & Resource Management
- Manage the North America medical budget with accountability and strategic foresight, ensuring optimal resource allocation for high-priority medical initiatives.
- Identify synergies across General Medicines and cross-GBU (XGBU) levels, proposing efficient investment strategies that maximize medical and business impact.
External Engagement & Scientific Reputation
- Build and sustain a strong network of Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), scientific experts, patient advocacy groups, and health authorities to reinforce Sanofi's scientific leadership and strategic positioning.
- Elevate Sanofi's presence and reputation in the US medical community through thought leadership, scientific exchange, and active engagement on issues shaping the healthcare landscape.
- Represent Sanofi at major scientific congresses, health authority meetings, and industry forums.
Digital Transformation & Innovation
- Champion the deployment of AI, digital health tools, and advanced analytics to enhance medical decision-making, evidence generation, and patient outcomes.
- Actively contribute to Sanofi's digital ambition by driving innovation in integrated care models and Real-World Evidence (RWE) strategies.
About YouEducation
- Must have MD qualification. Ph.D and publications are desirable
Experience & knowledge
- Minimum of 10 years of job-related experience
- Strong track record in developing and executing medical strategy in US and leading a sizable medical affairs function.
- Demonstrated track record of building and maintaining a KOL network in US and Canada.
- Experience in working across and building effective partnerships among R&D, Commercial, Medical, Safety, and Regulatory Strong understanding of the healthcare landscape
- Experience working within an international company with a complex organizational environment and ability to operate in a matrix
- Experience in deploying digital enablers in Medical Affairs
- Significant leadership experience, and proven ability to influence and impact key stakeholders
- Strong business savvy

The salary range for this position is:
$293,250.00 - $423,583.33
