Position Summary
The Driverge Engineer develops practical products and manufacturing solutions from initial design through prototype builds, testing, production launch, and ongoing support. The role combines hands-on engineering with close work alongside manufacturing and assembly teams to improve quality, reliability, cost, and ease of production.
This role calls for initiative, a strong work ethic, and enthusiasm for hands-on engineering. Engineers follow through on commitments and work closely with production teams to solve problems and complete projects.
Essential Job Functions and Duties
• Take ownership of assigned products and projects from concept and design through manufacturing implementation and ongoing improvement.
• Develop vehicle products, components, assemblies, and manufacturing processes with attention to safety, function, cost, materials, tolerances, and ease of assembly.
• Create and revise 3D models, assemblies, and detailed production drawings using Autodesk Inventor and CAD tools, following Driverge drafting and revision standards.
• Build, assemble, test, and troubleshoot prototypes. Use 3D printing and other practical prototyping methods to evaluate fit, function, tooling, and fixtures before production.
• Work directly with production and assembly teams to understand problems, take measurements, find root causes, and implement practical improvements.
• Support product launches and engineering changes with accurate bills of materials, drawings, work instructions, and hands-on training. Maintain records in the applicable ERP and Adept document control systems.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, quality, purchasing, vendors, sales, and customers to resolve requirements and support designs that can be manufactured consistently.
• Plan and document appropriate calculations, tests, and design reviews. Address applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements through Driverge review and release processes.
• Improve manufacturing methods, assembly sequences, fixtures, equipment use, and facility layouts to reduce waste and rework.
• Support mechanical, electrical, and control-system integration within assigned work, coordinating with teammates and specialists as needed.
• Manage priorities, project timing, and cost. Communicate progress and concerns early, propose solutions, and follow issues through completion.
