Description

Joseph J. Magnolia ("JJM") is currently seeking an experienced Plumbing & Mechanical Superintendent to join our New Construction team. This role is responsible for overseeing the installation, coordination, and execution of commercial plumbing and mechanical systems on large-scale ground-up construction projects, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, and applicable codes.

A $5,000 signing bonus is available for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Project Manager to support cost control, labor planning, forecasting, and schedule management.
  • Participate in BIM coordination meetings for all MEP systems.
  • Utilize coordinated BIM models for field layout, clash detection, and resolution of system conflicts.
  • Identify, submit, and manage RFIs related to plumbing and mechanical scope.
  • Review and manage submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Oversee all phases of plumbing and mechanical installation from underground through commissioning.
  • Direct and coordinate daily activities of plumbing and HVAC subcontractors and vendors.
  • Perform quality control inspections including pressure testing, leak detection, and system verification.
  • Lead equipment start-up, testing, balancing (TAB), and commissioning of mechanical systems.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, logistics, and site installations to maintain schedule integrity.
  • Support final turnover and ensure full system operational readiness.
  • Enforce safety standards and maintain a safe jobsite environment.
  • Communicate project status, issues, and solutions with project stakeholders.


Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in plumbing and/or HVAC systems.
  • Journeyman Plumbing or HVAC license preferred.
  • Journeyman Gas Fitting license preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing and mechanical codes (IPC, IMC, and local codes).
  • OSHA 30 certification required or ability to obtain prior to start.
  • Experience supervising crews and subcontractors on commercial construction projects.
  • Experience with ground-up, large-scale commercial projects ($5M-$20M preferred).
  • Strong understanding of plumbing systems from underground through completion.
  • Experience with HVAC equipment start-up and commissioning (chillers, boilers, cooling towers, rooftop units).
  • Experience with hydronic and refrigeration piping systems.
  • Proficient with construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, or similar).
  • Ability to read drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.
