Full Job Description
FNA has maintained a longstanding partnership with the Inova system, serving as the exclusive Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provider at Inova L.J. Murphy Children's, Inova Fair Oaks, Inova Loudoun, and Inova Alexandria hospitals. FNA's Board-Certified Neonatologists and highly specialized Neonatal Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) work collaboratively with care teams to deliver comprehensive, around-the-clock care to critically ill and premature newborns.

Our NICU APPs are key contributors to our clinical team, helping drive exceptional care and patient outcomes.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong clinical skills in neonatal-perinatal medicine and critical care procedures, and a demonstration of understanding of indications, risks, limitations of procedures.
  • Ability to interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic tests.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, teamwork, and family-centered care skills in a collaborative NICU environment.
  • Proficient in Electronic medical records documentation and basic computer applications. EPIC Preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented NICU environment.

Education & Experience
  • Board Certification in Nursing and Board Certified as a Neonatal-Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with NICU experience.
  • VA Nursing license, VA APP license, DEA Certificate, NRP Certification, BLS Certification

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Coordinate and manage NICU patient care in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and families.
  • Provide family-centered care, patient education, discharge guidance, and specialist referrals.
  • Communicate patient updates, significant clinical changes, and care plans with multidisciplinary teams and families.
  • Document patient progress, treatment plans, and clinical information accurately in EPIC.
  • Perform neonatal procedures including intubation, umbilical lines, PICC insertions, thoracentesis, and moderate sedation.
  • Lead neonatal transport teams, provide critical care during transport, in collaboration with Neonatologists.
  • Deliver detailed patient handoffs/sign-outs to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, policy development, staff education, and professional development activities.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and infection control protocols.
  • After two years of level IV experience, APP has the ability to practice autonomously at Inova Alexandria, Inova Fair Oaks, and Inova Loudoun Hospitals, providing in-house coverage to the NICU, attending high risk deliveries, and providing support to the family centered care unit. A Neonatologist is available for consultation as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Total Annual Compensation typically ranges from $150,000.00 - $200,000.00+, consisting of:
  • Base salary of $125,000.00-$150,000.00*
  • Eligible for Special Pay such as Buy, Sell, or Premium and Shift Differential after completion of the Orientation period.
  • Bonus opportunities (averaging $24,000.00+ annually).

*Base salary will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
