This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will support the development and maintenance of the flight software and the software integration of our Lunar MK1 Vehicle.  

Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and development of theMk1 Lunar Lander Flight Software (FSW)andits testinfrastructure.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and iteratively design and develop applications and systems to meet their needs.
  • Support software integration and testing of avionics, flight software and ground software.
  • Diagnose and fix software problems at multiple levels, including: unit, software in-the-loop, on-hardware, and on-vehicle issues.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • 2+ years of embedded software development experience
  • Strong and activedevelopment skills in C / C++ and Python
  • Solid understanding of IP networking concepts
  • Experience with communications protocols and hardware drivers
  • Experience using and customizing Continuous Integration / Continuous Development pipelines (CI/CD - e.g. Gitlab, Jenkins)
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired (but not required):

  • Master of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated skill at deploying production distributed systems to a mix of cloud and physical compute using systems like Ansible, Terraform, GitLab, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Strong debugging skills at the software/hardware boundary, and familiarity with software verification approaches
  • Experience leading development of software simulation testbed for a complex physical system
  • Experience with mission operations and ground data systems
  • Familiarity with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS), Board Support Packages (BSPs)
  • Familiarity with aerospace systems and design

Base Pay Range for:

WA applicants is $134,961.00 - $188,945.40

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
