Position Description: Are you an IT professional with a solid foundation in systems administration and an interest in middleware operations? CGI is seeking a Middleware Systems Administrator to join our collaborative GTO Canada team. As a Middleware Systems Administrator, you will support our Middleware Operations team. Your primary focus will be maintaining system stability, resolving operational incidents, and supporting day to day configuration and deployment activities. This role is ideal for a system administrator with broad technical interests who wants to gain deep exposure to a variety of middleware technologies, automation practices, and hybrid cloud environments. You will work in a supportive, fast paced environment that values proactive ownership and teamwork.
Your future duties and responsibilities: Responsibilites:
Provide daily operational support, monitoring, and maintenance for enterprise middleware environments.
Assist in troubleshooting, analyzing logs, and resolving technical incidents to ensure high system availability.
Support deployment and configuration activities across web and application servers.
Utilize and help maintain basic Ansible playbooks and GitHub repositories for automation and configuration tasks.
Collaborate with senior team members to support environmental upgrades, patches, and integrations.
Participate in team operational activities, including on call support rotation.
Contribute to documentation, standard operating procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role: Qualifications:
Essential:
3-5 years of experience in system administration, production support, or IT operations.
General experience supporting web or application servers (such as Tomcat, Apache, JBoss, or WebSphere).
Familiarity with automation concepts, ideally with basic hands on exposure to Ansible or GitHub.
Strong troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to diagnosing technical issues.
Excellent collaboration skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work independently when needed.
Clear and effective communication skills in English.
Desired / Asset:
Experience or exposure to any of the following: IBM MQ, ActiveMQ, IBM DataPower, or IBM Content Management tools.
Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset to support our Quebec team members and clients.
Basic understanding of cloud and container platforms (AWS, GCP, OpenShift, Kubernetes).
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000-$120,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
