Medical Director for the Banner-University Medical Center Phoenix

Medical Intensive Care Units and Critical Care Physician Advisor

Banner--University Medical Center Phoenix, the flagship hospital of Banner Health, a Top 5 Large Health System, integrated with the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix, is seeking an experienced Critical Care physician with leadership and academic experience to shepherd programmatic growth, target state of the art quality care and academic innovation.

Qualifications and Skills include:
  • Current ABIM certification in Critical Care Medicine with 5 years of progressive leadership experience and regular involvement in direct patient care.
  • A track record of academic productivity, including publications and quality/clinical research.
  • Experience leading teams in evidenced based critical care protocols.
  • Expertise in leading and collaborating with interdisciplinary groups to optimize quality, safety, patient satisfaction and efficiency.
Serve as the Medical Director for the Banner-University Medical Intensive Care Unit and be responsible for the following administrative duties:
  • Oversee organization and staffing of the Banner-University Medical Center Phoenix medical intensive care physician and nurse practitioner team.
  • Optimize quality and efficiency through process improvement, guideline implementation and leadership in the ICU and other relevant committee
  • Provide optimal environment for undergraduate and graduate education and training for the Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Fellowships.
  • Ensure ongoing continuing medical education to physicians, nurses and other professionals working in the ICU.
  • Lead, participate in, and support the development of clinical investigative projects, publications and trials in the ICU setting.
  • Ensure that all Leapfrog, TJC, and CMS initiatives are assessed and implemented as appropriate.
  • Provide regular reports to Banner/University of Arizona leadership and hospital committees on activities and performance.
