Job description
• Review engineering drawings to ensure material and process compliance.
• Evaluate and approve materials and special process techniques used in manufacturing and repair activities.
• Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities and provide technical disposition for material and process non-conformances
• Conduct metallurgical investigations, failure analysis, and root cause analysis activities.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers to resolve material and process-related issues.
• Conduct failure analysis of landing gear components and recommend process improvements to mitigate risks.
• Support qualification, production, and in-service product support activities.
• Develop and maintain material and process specifications, procedures, and technical reports.
• Support customer audits, technical reviews, investigations and qualifications activities as required.
• Provide metallurgical expertise in project management, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.

Communication Skills
Internal: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence decisions, prepare technical reports, present findings, and provide metallurgical guidance to multidisciplinary teams.
External: Strong interpersonal and technical communication skills to effectively engage with customers, suppliers, and external stakeholders in the resolution of material, process, manufacturing, and quality-related issues.
Candidate skills & requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Material Science or a related field
• P. Eng designation or eligible for registration with Professional Engineer Ontario (PEO).
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in aerospace materials and process engineering, metallurgy, or related engineering disciplines.
• Experience supporting aerospace manufacturing, repair, or sustainment programs.
• Experience conducting metallurgical investigations, failure analysis, and root cause analysis.
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Strong knowledge of aerospace metallic materials including ultra-high-strength steels, titanium alloys, and aluminum alloys.
• Knowledge of special process technologies including heat treatment, shot peening, coatings, plating, surface treatments, and forging.
• Experience working with aerospace standards such as AMS, ASTM, SAE, NADCAP, and customer-specific requirements.
• Knowledge of MRB, NCR, corrective action, and root cause analysis methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective technical writing and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to influence technical decisions and drive issue resolution.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex material, process, and manufacturing issues and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
• Landing gear or aerospace structural component experience considered an asset.
Salary: $90,500 to $113,000
