Our team in Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Mechanical Systems Engineer to help develop the next generation of flight control and weapons bay actuations systems for military aircraft. You will report to the Mechanical Systems Engineering Section Head and will have a 9/80 hybrid work schedule in Torrance, CA.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to advanced new product development programs from concept through qualification. You'll work alongside experienced engineers to solve complex technical challenges, influence system design decisions, and play a key role in delivering high-performance hydraulic and electromechanical actuator systems to our customers.

At Moog, you'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge aerospace systems that directly support military aircraft programs. You'll partner with experienced engineers, contribute to meaningful technical decisions, and gain exposure across the full product development lifecycle while helping bring innovative technologies from concept to flight.

As a Mechanical Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Support the development, integration, and verification of advanced hydraulic and electromechanical actuation systems

  • Translate customer and system needs into clear, traceable engineering requirements

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and engineering groups across Moog sites to drive product development efforts

  • Develop verification strategies, requirements traceability documentation, and qualification plans

  • Create and execute test plans and procedures to verify system performance and compliance

  • Analyze test results and generate clear, concise technical reports and presentations

  • Support system integration activities, troubleshooting efforts, and root cause investigations

  • Present technical information to internal stakeholders and customers

  • Travel approximately 5-15% to Moog and customer locations, primarily within the United States

To be considered for this role, here’s what you’ll typically bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another STEM discipline

  • 3+ years of engineering experience, preferably supporting aerospace or defense product development programs

  • Experience with one or more phases of the product development lifecycle, including requirements development, system design, integration, testing, verification, and validation

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment

It is preferred if you bring:

  • Experience developing or verifying aerospace actuation, flight control, or other complex aerospace systems

  • Familiarity with requirements management and systems engineering tools such as DOORS and Cameo

  • Experience working with safety-critical or mission-critical systems

  • Hands-on experience testing hydraulic and/or electromechanical systems

  • Experience supporting new product development within the aerospace or defense industry

Salary Range Transparency:

Torrance, CA $90,000.00–$135,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
