Job Description- Performs engineering design of mechanical equipment, material handling and piping as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Reviews and confirms engineering deliverables are complete, technically accurate, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
- Supports equipment procurement by producing purchasing documentation, soliciting quotations, and evaluating vendor bids.
- Produces engineering proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and other documentation to support project development.
- Manages small and medium-sized projects, ensuring they stay within budget and meet client requirements.
- Provides design advice and support to designers and AutoCAD operators.
- Understands and implements all relevant systems, standards, practices, and procedures required by the contract.
- Maintains health, safety and environmental focus to ensure that these elements are embedded in the design and procurement processes.
Qualifications- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Mechanical Engineering degree from a recognized institution.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with EGBC or another Canadian jurisdiction, an asset.
- Ideally, 3-6 years of relevant Engineering experience in a heavy industrial setting; Oil & Gas, mining, pulp & paper, or biofuels industry is an asset
- Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with team members; proficient in oral and written communication.
- Proactive with a high degree of initiative.
- Highly organized, with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Cross-functional knowledge and experience with process P&IDs and process design, as well as coordination experience with civil/structural and electrical design, is preferred.
- Excellent grasp of engineering principles and experience assessing complex systems.
- Experienced with pipe stress analysis software such as Caesar II and excellent knowledge of equipment such as tank, pumps etc.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in both a design office and operating plant environments
- Bilingual language skills an asset - English/French
