The RoleYou'll carry mechanical parts and assemblies from CAD through prototype testing and supplier feedback. Accurate recording outside the lab depends on hardware that holds sensors in alignment, survives repeated use, stays comfortable, and manages heat, and you'll turn those requirements into designs that can be built, maintained, and used in the field. Your work will shape how Mecka's capture systems perform in people's hands.
What You'll Do- Design mechanical systems that support accurate recording and can be assembled, maintained, and manufactured efficiently.
- Build and test prototypes to improve fit, weight distribution, stiffness, and ease of use.
- Analyze tolerances, loads, and sensor alignment, and validate key assumptions with physical measurements.
- Partner with electrical and sensor engineers on packaging, thermal paths, cable routing, and service access.
- Review parts with suppliers and refine designs using assembly results, reliability testing, and field feedback.
What You BringMust-have:
- 3-4 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks or Onshape) and the ability to produce clear engineering drawings.
- Solid understanding of mechanics, materials, tolerances, fits, fasteners, and dimensional inspection.
- Hands-on experience building prototypes and testing physical assemblies.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, molding, sheet metal, or additive manufacturing.
- Ability to package electronics and sensors with assembly, thermal behavior, and maintenance in mind.
- Experience working with suppliers to resolve part quality, manufacturability, and cost issues.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with wearable products, robot end effectors, handheld mechanisms, or precision sensor mounts.
- Experience with flexible materials, thermal analysis, or fatigue and durability testing.
A Note on ApplyingStudies show women and candidates from underrepresented groups often only apply when they meet 100% of the listed qualifications, while others apply after meeting 60%. If you don't check every box above but believe you can do the job, we encourage you to apply - we're looking for capability and trajectory, not a perfect checklist match.
