Position Description & Qualifications

Provide material management and logistics support for the modernization, sustainment, and operational readiness of Navy amphibious warfare platforms (LHA, LHD, LPD, LSD classes) under PMS 321. The Material Manager will identify, track, procure-support, and stage material required for availabilities, alterations, CASREP resolution, and ongoing maintenance so that ships meet schedule, cost, and readiness objectives.

Must have the ability to obtain/maintain/transfer an active U.S. Department of War (DoW) Secret security clearance.

This is a hybrid opportunity.

In this role, you will:
  • Analyze work packages, alteration packages, BOATALTs, ECPs, CASREPs, and Planned Maintenance System requirements to develop accurate material requirements and delivery schedules.
  • Track and manage the status of critical spares, long-lead-time material (LLTM), and Government Furnished Material (GFM) from requisition through receipt and installation.
  • Coordinate with NAVSUP, DLA, ISEAs, SUPSHIP, shipyards, , HII, AITs, and ship Supply Departments to resolve shortages, substitutions, Change Order Estimates (COEs), and obsolescence issues.
  • Maintain real-time visibility of material on order, in transit, in storage, and staged for waterfront or shipboard use using Navy logistics systems and program tracking tools. Track, Update, and provide reports on parts procurement and delivery to meet availability milestones.
  • Support availability planning and execution by preparing material kits, monitoring delivery performance, and escalating material risks that threaten critical path events.
  • Produce material readiness metrics (fill rates, LLTM status, CASREP burn-down) and provide inputs to readiness briefings, POA&Ms, and Program Office reports.
  • Ensure material supports current ship configuration and is aligned with configuration management and change control processes.
  • Perform other logistics and material management tasks as assigned in support of PMS 321 modernization and maintenance goals.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • The ability to obtain and maintain an active DoW Secret security clearance.
    • A U.S. citizenship
  • A Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
    • or an Associate's degree and 7 years of relevant experience.
    • or High-School Diploma/GED and 9 years of relevant experience.
  • 5 years of experience in Navy/DoD material management, logistics, or supply support, preferably with surface ships or amphibious platforms.
  • A working knowledge of Navy logistics systems and processes (e.g., R-Supply, N-ERP, OneTouch, WebFLIS, DLA processes, CASREP, Planned Maintenance System).
  • Experience supporting ship capabilities, modernizations, or AIT efforts.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; ability to brief material status to technical and senior leadership audiences.
  • The ability to travel 10%.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with PMS 321, PMS 317, or other NAVSEA amphibious/expeditionary programs.
  • Familiarity with configuration management, LOA/change messages, Planning Yard processes, andark.ai website navigation and analysis.
  • Experience with obsolescence management, LLTM tracking, and readiness metrics.
  • Navy Supply Corps, logistics specialist, or equivalent military experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Planner / Teams and common Navy data tools.


Additional InformationThis position supports critical modernization and maintenance of amphibious class ships. The successful candidate will work closely with government counterparts, shipyards, AITs, and ship's force to ensure material availability does not become a schedule or readiness constraint.
