Full Job Description
The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing the organization's master production schedule to ensure alignment between customer demand, manufacturing capacity, material availability, and business objectives. This role serves as a key liaison between Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Program Management, and Customer Service to optimize production flow, improve on-time delivery performance, and support inventory management goals.

The Master Scheduler analyzes demand requirements, capacity constraints, and material availability to establish and maintain achievable production schedules that support operational excellence and customer commitments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and manage the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to support customer demand and business objectives.
  • Coordinate production schedules across manufacturing operations to optimize resource utilization and meet delivery commitments.
  • Analyze customer demand, backlog, forecasts, and inventory levels to establish production priorities.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Manufacturing, Engineering, Program Management, and Operations teams to ensure material availability and schedule feasibility.
  • Monitor capacity constraints and recommend schedule adjustments to mitigate risks and maximize throughput.
  • Work with the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) leader and provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Identify schedule risks related to material shortages, engineering changes, supplier performance, capacity limitations, and customer demand fluctuations.
  • Generate and communicate production plans and key schedule metrics to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, scheduling, inventory management, and operational efficiency.
  • Support new product introductions, engineering change orders, and program transitions through effective scheduling and planning practices.
  • Monitor key performance indicators including on-time delivery, schedule attainment, inventory levels, and forecast accuracy.
  • Develop what-if scenario analyses to evaluate the impact of changing demand, capacity, and supply conditions.
  • Ensure scheduling processes comply with company policies, procedures, and business objectives.
  • Support internal and external audits related to planning, scheduling, and inventory controls.


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in production planning, master scheduling, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience within aerospace, defense, electronics manufacturing, or a highly regulated industry preferred.


Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of Master Production Scheduling (MPS), Material Requirements Planning (MRP), and Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP).
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and make sound business decisions.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, inventory control, capacity planning, and supply chain management principles.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
