Barr is seeking a marketing specialist to join our Minneapolis, Minnesota-basedCorporate Business Developmentteam in a hybrid role supporting the advancement of Barrs firmwide market strategies.ThisroleworkscloselywithCorporateBusinessDevelopment,Communications, and Events teamsandbusinessunit leadership to helpshape and position Barrs engineering and environmental consulting services within priority market sectors. The position is responsible for synthesizing market and economic intelligence, helping define market priorities, supporting go-to-market strategies, coordinating client- and market-focused initiatives, and translating Barrs technical strengths into clear, compelling, and consistent market offerings that strengthen client relationships and drive long-term growth.

Your impact – key responsibilities
Business development and market positioning:proactivelyidentifyclient needs and market opportunities for Barrs integrated engineering and environmental solutions. Work with project teams and principals toqualifyopportunities where Barr can introduce solutions.
Marketandclientcoordination:leadthecoordination of specific market sector strategy andengage incoordinatingmarket sectorandkey clientengagementfor the sector.Alignstrategyefforts, driving actions that position Barr for long-term market opportunities. The primary focus will be on thepowermarketand relatedclients, with support foradditionalmarketsand servicesas needed.
Strategic positioning and client development:coordinate activities related to client loyalty initiatives, long-lead pursuits, and strategic positioning efforts to help strengthen Barrs client relationships and market presence.
Marketing research and market intelligence:conduct research toinformmarketsector,client,businessunit,and companymarketingobjectives;this may includemonitoringRFP and intelligence data resources to inform Business Development,Communications, andbusinessunitteams.
Go-to-market strategydevelopment: partner withbusiness unitleads, client events, and communications in support of go-to-market strategy developmentto promote Barrs integrated engineering and environmental solutions services.
Corporate Business Development initiatives:coordinate and lead Corporate Business Development initiatives as assigned, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution.
About the opportunity
Hybrid:a hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office.This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office.
Travel requirement:approximately 10percenttravelto support client meetings, industry events, and internalengagementwithstaffin variousoffices.
About you –requiredcore competencies
Education:bachelors degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
Experience:five or more years of relevant experience.
Supporting business development and communications functions.
Leading activities within cross-functional teams.
Communication:strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across teams.
Travel:ability and willingness to travel occasionally to support client meetings, industry events, and internal collaboration activities.
Possession of a current, valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.
Helpfuladditionalexperience (notrequired)
Experience developing and implementing digital marketing and social media strategies.
Knowledge of client journey mapping for business development strategies.
Understanding of engineering and environmental consulting markets, particularly related tothepower utilities, renewable energy, data centers, and/or oil and gas.
Experience in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry.
Proficiencypreparing visual presentation materials.
Experience withDeltekVantagepoint.
Compensation
Anticipated range of$80,000 $110,000annually. Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance. This position is classified as Exempt (salaried) under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
