As the MarTech & Automation Owner, you are the architectural guardian and efficiency engine of our marketing technology ecosystem. You will own the overarching architecture, functional health, and utilization of our MarTech stack while serving as the primary technical architect of our core Marketing Automation Platform (Marketo).
Deep, hands-on Marketo experience is required for this role. Rather than acting as a ticket-taker or day-to-day admin for every single point solution, you will govern the stack to ensure every platform has a clear owner, is properly administered, and is utilized to its highest potential. You will design, build, and optimize self-serve campaign operation frameworks that empower functional super-users across marketing (Events, Field, Content, Growth) to deploy campaigns autonomously, flawlessly, and without operational friction.
This role is based out of our San Francisco or New York City offices, with a 2 days a week in-office requirement.
Key Responsibilities- MarTech Stack Architecture & Governance:
- Own the holistic architecture, integration standards, API security, and global data flow across the entire MarTech ecosystem.
- Proactively audit stack utilization, system health, and vendor efficiency to identify opportunities for consolidation, automation, and capability enhancement.
- Establish governance policies ensuring every tool has a designated functional super-user/admin while maintaining centralized architectural control over core CRM/MAP syncs.
- Marketo Core Architecture & Enablement:
- Serve as the technical architect for Marketo, maintaining system performance, global program templates, tokenization, lead scoring pipelines, database hygiene, and CRM integration rules.
- Build and deliver comprehensive enablement, documentation, and training programs for non-MOps tool owners and program leads across the GTM organization.
- Campaign Operations & Self-Serve Frameworks:
- Design, launch, and refine a fully self-serve campaign execution model that enables program owners (Field Events, Webinars, Nurtures, Demand Gen) to launch campaigns effortlessly using standardized Marketo templates and operational playbooks.
- Automate campaign ops end-to-end-continuously shoring up manual processes, eliminating ticket bottlenecks, and introducing automated QA guardrails for link validation, rendering, and brand compliance.
- Functional Super-User Enablement:
- Onboard, train, and certify functional admins across business units (e.g., event teams in Goldcast/Splash, content teams in AirOps, web teams in WordPress/GTM) to ensure decentralized execution follows centralized standards.
- Act as the technical escalation point for integrations, schema errors, and platform troubleshooting.
Qualifications & Requirements- Experience: 3+ years in Marketing Operations, Systems Architecture, or MarTech Management in a growth-stage B2B SaaS environment.
- Must-Have Requirements:
- Marketo Mastery (Required): Advanced Marketo administration experience is 100% required (Marketo Certification preferred). Candidates without hands-on Marketo expertise will not be considered. Deep technical knowledge of Marketo program architecture, tokenized templates, global forms, deliverability, and Marketo-Salesforce CRM sync management is essential.
- Stack Architecture Experience: Hands-on experience integrating, auditing, and governing multi-tool stacks (webinars, CMS, ABM, event capture, direct mail, social tools).
- Process & Automation First Mindset:
- Proven track record of replacing manual campaign ticket queues with scalable, self-serve operational models and automated QA checks.
- Strong technical documentation skills with a passion for teaching, enabling, and certifying non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership: Self-directed problem solver capable of auditing technical systems, driving vendor conversations, and leading operational change management across marketing teams.
