Your role and responsibilities:The Manufacturing Engineer at ABB's Athens, GA site provides daily onsite technical leadership and manufacturing engineering expertise for CNC machining operations supporting the production of industrial electric motors. This role is responsible for driving safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction, capacity improvements, process standardization, and continuous improvement across machining operations. The engineer serves as the technical authority for CNC machining processes, tooling strategies, machining technologies, process development, and equipment optimization.

You will be mainly accountable for:- Own and optimize CNC machining processes for electric motor components, establishing standards, programming strategies, process controls, and manufacturing best practices to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and process capability.
- Lead manufacturing readiness and technical execution for new products, engineering changes, tooling, fixtures, automation, and capital equipment projects, including APQP, DFM, commissioning, validation, and startup activities.
- Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence through data analytics, Lean methodologies, root cause problem solving, and Industry 4.0 technologies to improve OEE, capacity, throughput, quality, and cost performance.
- Provide cross-functional technical leadership by partnering with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, EHS, and Engineering teams, while mentoring personnel and leading troubleshooting, corrective actions, and strategic improvement initiatives.
Qualifications for the role:- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience supporting CNC machining operations in an industrial manufacturing environment, with demonstrated expertise in precision-machined components.
- Proven track record of delivering process improvements that drive measurable gains in productivity, quality, throughput, and cost reduction.
- Experience leading or supporting capital equipment, tooling, and manufacturing automation projects, including equipment selection, implementation, and process validation.
- Strong technical expertise in CNC machining, including multi-axis turning and milling, CNC programming and G-code, CAM systems, cutting tool optimization, and fixture/work holding design.
- Working knowledge of quality and continuous improvement methodologies, including GD&T, precision measurement techniques, statistical problem solving, and Six Sigma principles.
- Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
