The Opportunity


The Managing Director will be working as an Investment Manager, collaborating with investment professionals with deep sector and regional expertise and will play a key role in making and managing direct investments in the Technology sector.


Who you'll work with


Reporting to the Senior Managing Director (SMD), the Managing Director will lead deal teams comprising analysts, associates and principals, supported by third party consultants, operating executives, legal and accounting professionals dedicated to each particular investment.


In certain instances, the Managing Director may also work with colleagues in the London, Singapore or Mumbai offices in evaluating international investment opportunities in a given sector.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Plan, organize and direct investment opportunities within the Technology sector.
  • Manage a team of investment professionals responsible for evaluating, structuring, and executing investments.
  • Establish investment priorities, operational objectives, policies, and procedures to support the organization’s investment mandate and long-term growth strategy.
  • Undertaking analysis of investments, which includes conducting industry and company due diligence, creating sophisticated financial models, arranging debt financing, negotiating legal documents, formulating value creation plans (in partnership with operating teams and other lead investors) and preparing written recommendations.
  • Lead the investment decision-making process by reviewing analyses and recommendations prepared by investment professionals and presenting strategic recommendations to senior leadership and investment committees.
  • Direct negotiations relating to acquisitions, investments, financing arrangements, and other strategic transactions, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and risk management requirements.
  • Manage relationships with investors, co-investment partners, lenders, advisors, portfolio company executives, and other key stakeholders within the financial services and investment community.
  • Oversee performance of investment portfolio and provide strategic direction to management teams and investment professionals to support operational improvements, growth initiatives, and value creation strategies.
  • Represent the organization on boards of directors and board committees of portfolio companies and provide governance oversight to ensure achievement of strategic and financial objectives.
  • Establish business development and investment origination strategies, identifying new investment opportunities, networking and fostering industry relationships, and expanding the organization's presence within the Technology investment ecosystem.
  • Direct market research initiatives and sector coverage strategies to identify emerging trends, investment opportunities, and risks that may affect investment performance and portfolio management decisions.
  • Oversee the preparation of reports, recommendations, and presentations for senior management, investors, and investment committees.
  • Manage departmental resources, establish performance objectives, and provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for investment team members.
  • Collaborate with senior management and global leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives, investment policies, and operational plans that support the organization's overall business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, internal policies, governance standards, and risk management practices relating to investment activities and portfolio management.

Required Skills:


The individual will have significant prior expertise and a strong track record investing in Technology, particularly in Software with knowledge of emerging AI and digitization themes.  Key focus areas include Application software, Infrastructure software, Digital & IT Services and other Tech-enabled categories.


  • 10+ years of work experience with a substantial track record of private equity deal leadership in investment banking.
    • Track record sponsoring deals at Underwriting / Investment Committee and delivering committed returns across a full investment cycle, including conducting and leading multiple diligence streams (financial, operational, legal, tax, insurance), arranging debt financing, and negotiating documentation.
    • Direct investment track record in Technology is required; Software expertise is  particularly valued. Please include your deal sheet with your application.
    • Deep knowledge of Technology sector dynamics and the emerging regulatory, AI, and digitization themes reshaping them
    • Demonstrated leadership across the full investment process, including sourcing, due diligence, debt financing, negotiation, and exit.
    • Strong negotiating skills, with ability to lead commercial terms in acquisitions, mergers, and financings.
    • Ability to balance priorities, work independently, lead teams, and thrive in a high-performance environment.
    • Very strong analytical and quantitative skills to perform and guide in-depth, innovative, critical analysis.
    • Deep understanding of fundamental investment analysis and private equity value creation.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build constructive relationships with internal and external parties, particularly management teams, boards, and senior advisors.
    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, including IC paper authorship and presentation.
    • Willingness and ability to travel across North America and globally.

Required Education:


  • Undergraduate Degree or Masters Degree in Economics, Commerce, Finance or Business Administration
