Full Job Description
The MD of Digital Finance will lead our finance digital transformation. This high-visibility leadership role will be accountable to take charge of modernizing our workflows and to turn our manual data processes into a gold data source that will provide the interactive insight to drive TMX's long-term global strategy.

You will oversee the migration and optimization of financial data onto a Snowflake infrastructure, automating legacy processes and ensuring that data is accessible, accurate, high-fidelity, and provides the insight needed across the finance and business teams. This is a high-visibility leadership role requiring a blend of deep financial acumen, sophisticated data engineering oversight, and a transformative mindset to support TMX's global growth and innovation agenda.

The Managing Director will drive Finance analytics forward by combining strong data capabilities, analytical skill, extreme curiosity and a critical understanding of techniques and tools to bring actionable insights to the forefront.

Collaborating with other leaders across the business is a must, from providing proactive insights to senior leadership, contributing to our finance system roadmaps, to building best-in-class financial models to aid in decision making and finance processes. This individual will have a team of 2-3 and will make use of resources across the central digital finance team.

This role reports to: Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer

This role is hybrid (2-3 days/week in the office) - based in Toronto, ON.

Key Accountabilities:

Strategic Data Platform & Transformation
  • Workday GL Optimization: Champion and evolve Workday as the foundational system of record, ensuring seamless data capture, optimal straight-through-processing, and dynamic integration with downstream data environments.
  • Data Platform Leadership: Partner with enterprise technology teams on the implementation of the financial data platform on Snowflake, creating a secure, scalable "single source of truth" for all global TMX entities. Build and own a clear multi-year roadmap for the data and insight platforms across finance.
  • Modernize Workflows:Act as the primary visionary in retiring legacy, manual workflows. Direct the transition from manual data gathering to real-time data pipelines, and self-service analytics, reducing "time-to-insight."
  • Semantic Modeling & AI Readiness: Build and maintain the financial semantic layer. Providing clean and labeled data structures to power Generative AI, machine learning, user self-service, predictive forecasting, and anomaly detection.


Financial Analytics & Business Insights
  • Actionable Intelligence: Elevate the quantity and quality of data-driven insights. Generate analytics use cases, test hypotheses at scale, and deliver systematic reporting on core enterprise drivers.
  • Advanced Visualization: Establish modern visualization standards (using tools like Quicksight) that move reporting beyond static grids into interactive, predictive dashboards.
  • AI Deployment: Deploy Generative AI use cases within Finance to automate narrative reporting, variance analysis, and complex document synthesis.
  • Strategic Partnership: Partner closely with Finance Business Partners (FBPs) and BU data experts to leverage both financial and non-financial data, driving collaborative solutions for senior leadership.


Leadership & Culture Building
  • Analytics Champion:Promote a culture of analytical curiosity across the Finance organization. Coach and upskill the wider team to bridge talent gaps in modern analytics.
  • Team Development:Lead, mentor, and develop a dedicated team of 2-3 data professionals while effectively working in partnership with resources from the central enterprise data team.
  • Delivery Standardization: Optimize the format and delivery of how financial insights are accessed by business leaders across TMX.


Must have(s):
  • 12+ years of demonstrated ability and experience with strong financial analysis skills and research
  • Professional designation (CFA, CPA) or MBA
  • Strong organizational, analytical and conceptual skills
  • Relationship builder and collaborator; effective and positive management style supporting staff through example, mentorship and development
  • Robust technical acumen in data management, governance practices and tools, such as statistical analysis, Snowflake, data warehousing, data mining, data engineering, python, R, SQL. Additionally, Excel (pivot tables, model building, model auditing)
  • Able to work effectively across organizational lines and promotes an effective team-based environment with employees and management at all levels of the organization
  • Results oriented and the ability to work under tight deadlines, and handle contending priorities with effective problem solving
  • Leverage excellent verbal and written communication skills by tailoring messages according to audience while being client centric
  • A self-starter, ability to manage large volume of change in an ambiguous and intricate environment


Nice to have(s):
  • Previous experience in the Software industry or capital markets
  • Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning or Workday Financials and integration with Snowflake.
  • Google Suite of Tools for Work (Sheets, Docs, Slides)
