Job Description

Position Summary

McCormick Taylor has an immediate opening for a Water Resources Manager to join our growing Water Resources Department based out of Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC. Projects range from drainage improvements and flood studies to storm drain design, stormwater BMP and retrofit design to hydraulic design of bridge and culvert crossings as well as stream restoration. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative team environment. We are seeking an individual who can handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and work well in a hybrid remote office environment. Strong written, interpersonal and oral communication skills, attention to detail and ability to organize is required.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Perform hydrology and hydraulics engineering, stormwater management (PCSM), erosion and sediment control design, NPDES Permitting and MS4 support
  • Manages and supervises complex stormwater management/roadway drainage design work driven by current regulatory requirements
  • Designs storm drains, culverts and structures
  • Performs floodplain studies, watershed analysis, PCSM design, erosion & sediment control
  • Provides MS4 permitting and stream restoration design support
  • Collaborates with transportation design team, environmental staff and regulatory agencies to support the permitting process for various projects
  • Manages staff and workload
  • Coordinates with senior management
  • Contributes to marketing activities, client relationship management and proposal writing
  • Perform QA/QC of work for technical accuracy
  • Management of contracts and client relationships

Qualifications
  • 10+ years Water Resource Engineering experience
  • BS degree in Water Resources engineering, civil engineering, or biological systems engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • DOT Stormwater design and permitting experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite
  • Must be proficient in WinTR-55/TR-20, HEC-RAS, PondPack and Erosion & Sediment Control design
  • Work experience using Storm CAD, AutoCAD and/or Microstation
  • Inroads Storm and Sanitary, SWM modeling, HEC-HMS and/or 2D Modeling experience is a plus
  • GIS, NPDES Phase I and II, General Permit and Program is a plus
  • Strong communications and technical writing skills
