Manager, Third Party Management

About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic leader who is as passionate as we are with helping Canadians succeed with credit. The Third-Party Management Team provides third party services utilizing integral governance practices to support Capital One’s strategic objectives.

As Manager, you will report to the Senior Manager, Third Party Management, and be a first line leader who partners with business customers and stakeholders in third party sourcing and management to provide the best leverage to Capital One in the third party space while mitigating associated third party risks. You will bring your mastery and expertise in all matters related to Supply Chain and hold a high bar, ensuring strict adherence to Capital One’s Third-Party Risk Management policies and relevant regulatory requirements.

In addition, you have deep expertise and market knowledge within assigned supplier categories to support our technology-focused business to ensure that our third-party arrangements provide Capital One with a competitive advantage through optimum pricing structures, strong negotiation skills and rationalization, ensuring a stable and effective supply chain.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the holistic relationship between Capital One and assigned supplier categories across the end-to-end third party life cycle (Due Diligence, Selection, Contracting, Onboarding, Monitoring, and Offboarding), ensuring robust compliance and risk management.

  • Serve as the Category Manager for third party management execution, accountable for building third party relationships, managing risks, negotiating contracts, and improving effectiveness.

  • Ensure comprehensive oversight of all suppliers and services within assigned categories.

  • Build deep internal stakeholder relationships with a high degree of credibility (including at the executive level) to enable, shape, and influence outcomes in the supplier space.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including enterprise, customer, legal, and internal Risk and Governance functions to support business customer outcomes.

  • Shape, develop, and execute strategic supplier plans that align with business intent and market trends; leveraging broad market data, insights, competitor information, and a detailed knowledge of suppliers' businesses to establish a long-term strategic path.

  • Manage team deliverables to the established policies, standards, procedures, and processes related to third party management.

  • Participate in key management forums and contribute to continuous improvement and/or best practices.

  • Build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and third parties to ensure that business objectives are met and to drive maximum value back into the business.

  • Leverage industry knowledge and seasoned negotiation and influencing skills to support pricing and third-party service level commitments outcomes.

  • Demonstrate expertise in Contract Management, managing suppliers in accordance with contracts while partnering with legal teams to amend, vary, renew, and expand contractual arrangements over time in alignment with regulation and guidance.

  • Manage multiple priorities with various stakeholders with an acute appreciation for deadlines impacting speed to market for Capital One products or services.

  • Be an effective change manager through the provision of clear plans and fulfillment activities.

  • Develops plans or strategies to drive innovation with the objective of creating efficiency.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years of experience in third party management, procurement, or supply chain management within the financial services industry to include process and risk management.

  • At least 7 years experience working in a cross-functional environment, ensuring business and stakeholder expectations are effectively managed.

  • Mastery in Supplier/Third Party Management, with proven expertise in commercial, risk management, analytical, and problem resolution skills across assigned categories.

  • Proven ability to create, develop, and execute specific Supplier Strategies taking into account key internal and external market factors.

  • Strong market knowledge within different sourcing and supplier management categories relevant to the credit card business to include deep negotiation, communication, contract and influencing skills with the ability to optimize on pricing structures.

  • Demonstrated track record managing multiple concurrent complex projects with competing deadlines.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience applying OSFI Guideline B-10 and E-21 requirements in a regulated financial services environment.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering executive-level presentations and influencing stakeholders at the VP level or above to support strategic business objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Commerce, or Science, or other recognized Procurement or Supply Chain accreditation such as CTPRP (Certified Third Party Risk Professional) or SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional).

  • At least 5 years experience leading a team.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading cross-functional process improvement initiatives that resulted in measurable operational efficiency gains.

  • Experience working in an agile environment.

The expected annual salary range for this position is $130,000 to $148,000. This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
