Overview

ROLE AT A GLANCE: The Manager, Tax Planning will lead and execute domestic and international tax planning workstreams that support the Company’s strategic, operational, and financial objectives. This role will evaluate the tax implications of business initiatives, transactions, restructurings, financings, and operational changes, and will help translate technical tax requirements into practical business recommendations.

 

The Manager will partner closely with Tax, Finance, Legal, Treasury, Accounting, FP&A, HR, Supply Chain, and business leaders, as well as external advisors, to identify tax risks and opportunities, develop planning alternatives, and support implementation. The ideal candidate brings strong technical tax expertise, sound judgment, project-management capability, and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders in a dynamic multinational environment.

 

HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT: Tax Planning & Strategy•    Lead and execute domestic and international tax planning initiatives, from initial analysis through implementation and documentation.•    Analyze and advise on the tax consequences of business transactions, legal-entity restructurings, financings, acquisitions, divestitures, and other strategic initiatives.•    Develop planning recommendations related to cash repatriation, legal-entity optimization, intercompany transactions, and cross-border operating models.•    Lead U.S. international tax planning analyses involving Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, foreign tax credits, withholding taxes, BEAT, tax treaties, and related matters.•    Evaluate tax implications of cross-border transactions, organizational changes, and evolving business models.•    Monitor U.S. and international tax law developments; assess potential impact and communicate practical implications to Tax leadership and relevant business stakeholders.•    Analyze the impact of OECD Pillar Two and other global tax reform initiatives, including modeling, planning considerations, and implementation requirements.•    Develop and review tax models and other analyses to evaluate proposed planning transactions and business initiatives.•    Maintain appropriate documentation supporting planning positions, technical conclusions, and implementation decisions.International Tax Planning•    Assess the tax efficiency of global legal-entity structures, operating models, supply-chain arrangements, and intellectual-property ownership and development models.•    Lead or support legal-entity restructuring, supply-chain planning, and intellectual-property planning projects in partnership with internal stakeholders and external advisors.•    Coordinate with regional Finance teams, local country personnel, and external advisors to evaluate international tax matters and implement approved planning initiatives.•    Partner with transfer-pricing teams and advisors to align tax planning strategies, intercompany arrangements, and supporting documentation.•    Identify and escalate international tax risks, execution considerations, and potential planning opportunities.Transaction Support•    Lead tax planning workstreams for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, financings, and other strategic transactions.•    Conduct or coordinate tax due diligence, identify tax risks and opportunities, and provide actionable recommendations on transaction structures.•    Partner with Legal, Finance, Treasury, Accounting, and external advisors to evaluate transaction alternatives and support decision-making.•    Support post-transaction integration, restructuring, and implementation activities, including documentation of tax positions and planning outcomes.Tax Controversy & Audit Support•    Support tax controversy matters involving foreign tax authorities and cross-border tax positions, as needed.•    Coordinate with regional Finance teams, local country personnel, and external advisors to gather documentation and support responses to tax authority inquiries.•    Assist with dispute-resolution efforts, including competent-authority matters, treaty-based initiatives, and other cross-border controversy proceedings.•    Maintain documentation that supports audit readiness and enables timely, consistent responses to tax authority inquiries globally.Cross-Functional Collaboration•    Serve as a trusted tax advisor to cross-functional stakeholders, identifying tax considerations associated with strategic initiatives and operational changes.•    Translate complex tax matters into clear, practical recommendations for non-tax audiences.•    Build effective working relationships across Tax, Accounting, Legal, Treasury, FP&A, HR, Supply Chain, and business teams to align tax objectives with business priorities.•    Manage relationships and work product of external tax advisors on assigned projects, including scope, deliverables, timing, and quality.•    Additional duties as assigned.

 

TEAM DYNAMICS:  •    Herbalife's Global Tax team is a dynamic, cross-functional group within the Finance and Accounting organization, dedicated to managing and optimizing the company's tax position across its multinational operations.

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS:

Education•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field required.•    CPA, MST, JD, or comparable advanced tax credential preferred.

Experience•    6+ years of progressive experience in domestic and international tax planning, international tax, or a closely related tax specialty.•    Experience in a combination of public accounting and a multinational corporate tax environment preferred.•    Strong knowledge of U.S. federal income tax and U.S. international tax principles, including Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, foreign tax credits, withholding tax, BEAT, and tax treaties.•    Working knowledge of OECD Pillar Two and other international tax reform developments preferred.•    Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects, analyze complex tax issues, and drive workstreams to completion.

Skills/Certifications•    Strong analytical, research, written, verbal communication, and stakeholder-management skills.•    Ability to exercise sound judgment, manage confidential information, and work effectively in a fast-paced multinational environment.
